Feel free to paste this into a tanking thread. There seems many.

For F^&*& sake.

As much as I don't want to lose what is one game going too make.

The funny thing is this game will never be forgotten, not for at least 10 years, no matter what our individual thoughts.

If we win it costs us, if we lose there is compensation.

If we win one more and Collingwood and Hawthorn don't we end up with pick 5, and 3rd pick in the PSD. If we stay where we are we get Pick 1 & 3, 4 or 5, and first pick in the PSD.

SO we get two potentially high calibre young players, a free crack at an uncontracted player, which allows us too focus on trading for another current AFL player who wants more money.

This positioning on the ladder is not just about a lazy pick in the draft, it is about our total postioning come trade week.

Dont' cry about severe draft penalties and then shoot ourselves in the foot. I will take the loss and move on.

Please tell me if this can be placed in a generic area, i fill better for getting that off my chest - SORRY.

I thought you were talking about St Kilda v Freo.

We were having a poker game and the final 2 mins stopped all poker play just to have a look (Which is a big impact for a footy game involving teams none of the poker players follow).

Hird is going to have to do a double somersault with two and a half twists into the crowd if he wants to retain his victory-celebration crown.

Why didn't I think of this?

Quick! Someone start a thread on how important it is to get early picks, and how if we win more matches it will only be to our detriment.

I mean NOW!

It's time for a thread like that....

And I've never seen anyone tie Denis' talk about draft picks and needing to finish at less than 5.5 wins before.

Are you being meaningfully meaningless on purpose, Dannyboy?!

No more worry about something out of my hands for me - I'll leave it to the karma police

First pick in the draft would be great, maybe we could get ourselves the next Goddard...on second thoughts, I'll take a win.

What about Wells, you don't want him Barney? We are actually talking about two picks.

I actually thought BJ played a good game last night. KK and Barney you can have Livo at full back who has goals kicked against him and can't kick a ball or you can have Goddard at full back who has goals kicked against him and kicks like a muel a very accurate muel.

Sometimes I wonder what the hell people are watching!

When he gets the ball. Which would be when he isn't hopelessly out-positioned, and gives away a dumb free kick. Which would be never.

I've been watching Goddard all season. He sucks. Pure and simple. Slow, stupid, outmarked, outpositioned...you name it.

He MAY have been made into a footballer if he had have been placed in the charge of a decent coach, but a decent kick does not a footballer make.

And yes, I would take Livo over him every time. At least Livo never stops trying, always gives his all. The game is being turned into a charity show for forwards, and as such, I think Livo more than holds his own.

Synbad, NO-ONE is denying that we're up shit creek at the moment. Don't try and put words into our mouth that we think we're brimming with stars.

The fact is Goddard just doesn't live up to his hype.

Full stop.

If he had been put in the charge of a decent coach, then he might have had a chance, but he's going backwards currently.

Okay - so lets put him in the hands of a decent coach...

This is a very short sighted view, and disagree.

If we win, it will mean we've gained jack/schizehausen this year. A nothing year.

Lose, and the rewards are 3 picks in the top 20 = talent, something we lack and need plenty of, in case you haven't watched many games this season.

You'd take Livo over Goddard????

KK, I admire your loyalty to Livo because he's a great bloke and puts in. Plus he's a blueboy.

But seriously... we have the worst backline in the AFL, and he can't even crack a game in the seniors at the moment. His awareness is barely average and his disposal is terrible.

The fact is that the saints would openly laugh in our face if we suggested a straight swap.

Agree GWS - Would like this to happen, but don't know if it will.

That's mostly because they under-rate Livo, and over-rate Goddard.

Not much difference between the 2 from what I've seen.

Hmmm...

From what I can see Goddard possesses the game's most valuable skill: the ability to kick the ball long and accurately to advantage on a regular basis.

From what I've seen on Livo, his greatest strength is his willingness to contest and have a dip.

Seriously, what has Livo shown you (other than a 'have a dip' mentality) that would cause you to rate him higher than pretty much everyone else in the football world?

LMAO Livo isn't better than anyone from any other team. Synbad is write Goddard would be one of our top players. We are all about giving Walker time, how about we give Brendan the same luxury.

The "have-a-dip", added with pretty good body strength (outmuscling Quentin Lynch is a pretty fair effort, as far as I'm concerned), and developing backman's smarts is why.

The black art of being a backman successfully is not something which is able to be picked up instantly, IMO. It's like ruck skills. Takes a few hard seasons for most to develop the combination of knowledge of the game, positioning, their opponent, their skills, their strength etc to get going.
