Macca was as good as ever and Bradley was getting 20 touches a game. Has Prenda managed to reach 20 disposals for the year yet?
What do you mean I'm negative?

7Dominator to me there is no difference between Sporn and Plunkett except Jimmy actually played some good games. The names you put forward do make me cringe but some of the present ones make me want to puke.

Good to see that Deluca has been re-signed I look forward to 2 more years of his lamp post impersonations. Good to see Carlton are moving forward now since Jack and Parko left.

I highlighted this sentence for you 7Dom because that is the very answer I was going to give, go to the draft, keep bloody drafting until you get enough talent on the list to challenge for a flag. There's no point in recycling other clubs discards in the hope that they will improve. Whilst there is always the chance that it can happen, if you are honest with yourself, you'll acknowledge that clubs don't giveaway quality players that easily these days.

Interesting that you push for not recycling other Clubs discards Sheik.unfortunately i believe a search of your post over the years and in particular the last 12 months highlight you recommmending many many players from other Clubs!.

You have always been a great one for multiple discards but never have elaborated how they can be areplaced..

This year (and last year)we have been in the draft again...How do you expect to replace the 10-15 you regularly suggest need outing without taking "recycled discardS"?

Given your continuing push for whoevers name crops up,your suggestion that we steer clear of "other clubs discards" is a little confusing to say the least!

Game next time I write a poem I'll keep it simple for you. Maybe I'll make it a sound poem, full of grunts and groans, that should suit you.

What a joke,Sydney Blue....

I suggested a side based on 2002 form and not historical....you give us this and suggest the they would pump this year...

Christou 12 games and last year..
Manton 9
Mansfield 16 and last year
Freebourn 6 and last
Ratten 12 and 31 years
Hickmont 30 years
Kouta 3 games
Allan 4 games
Hulme 3 games
Hotton,last year
Doering...give me a break
Bradley...38 years old

Beaumont,Murphy both sacked...

Of your 22 where is the future?

Where are the kids?

2002....Read the list AGAIN!

This whole debate was about the list that Pagan inherited and the ineptitude of the previous administration.
To try and defend the list as it was presented in 2002 is ludicrous.
We all loved Ratten,Kouta,Macca etc but by the time that Pagan took over they were past it.

The disgrace was that there was NOTHING there to replace them!

Dom that side would still win against the current side in spite what you say.
Lets just say you and I have a different opinion on how to make our club sucessful again. I am not looking for excuses as to why we didn't win I want answers on how we are going to win. Regardless of who Pagan was left with he has still put out 22 players onto the park wearing the Navy Blue and I expect that team to have a dip. They haven't been raising a whimper - they have been playing for themselves and the only way this club will go forward is to find a group of players who are playing for each other - keep them together for 2-3 years let them become mates and then we might see sucess. Having to introduce yourself to the guy standing at the locker every year doesn't help. Sure the side he was left was lacking depth but he had just been handed draft penalties my arguement is why get rid of 5-6 100 +game players and replace them with guys who have been lucky to play 30-40 games over 3 seasons. It has served nothing other than get supporters like me back up . It hasn't improved our position on the ladder and it could have been handled alot better . There is no difference in the quality of Morrell as against Beaumont or Hulme as against Johnson and so on. We know the guys that Pagan got rid were not going to takes to the future but niether were the ones he replaced them with :?

we've been over this, must we return every year at this time to the same old same old.

Culture. All coaches come in and change the culture. Only Pagan has ever tried to do so with the penalties of only 1 early draft pick. Did he succeed? We'll know when the crop of kifds he is training blossom in another 3 years.

until then we just have to accept this medicine.

Or not for some of you. But at leats lets find something new to argue over.

Or will it do tanking/Old regime versus new regime/ excitement/disappojntment/tanking/old regime versus new regime.

This is a long haul, its called a long haul becuase it will take a lomng time. Not 2 or 3 years. thats normal with the draft but 5 to 7 before we actually become something of a side - say around where the bullies are now, a good side missing the finals, then we begin. If Pagan gets us in the 8 within 7 years he's a bloody marvel!

I thought it's been interesting to think...would the best side from 2002 beat the best side from 2005? Of course it's impossible to know one way or the other, but on paper I woud've thought the 2002 side would beat this years best side which I roughly considered to be:

Carrazzo, Thornton, Teague
Livo, Whits, Campo
Simo, Stevo, Scotts
Skinny, Waite, Walks
Eddie, Fev, Fish
French, Kouta, Bentick
Houlihan, McGrath, Wiggo, Bryan

I then compared the stats of that team with the 2002 team listed earlier in the thread basing my analysis largely on each players best game (starting with goals, as goals win games, and then working back on stats).

2005 49.19 (313)
def
2002 41.21 (267)

2005
Pos: 426
Tack: 53
HO: 41

2002
Pos: 441
Tack: 49
HO: 35

Less posessions, more goals in 2005.

It's a simplistic analysis but an interesting result.

Feel free to search all you like, the one thing you'll find is that I do not condone the practice of trading for hacks & duds which is what we have been doing recently.

I guess if we did a search of all your posts we'd find a stream of one sentence answers that do nothing more than ensure that you are left sitting on the fence once again. Hey, it's always easier to shoot down anyone who writes in opposition to the vast majority though isn't it ?? Safety in numbers and safety in comment ......
