On SEN this morning Libba was talking like a guy who knew that he wasn't going to be at the club next year. He was quite candid with his opinions about Fev. It was refreshing really.

And what did he say about Fev?

Not word for word but along the lines of Fev needs to work out if he wants to play for the Carlton Football Club. Lots and lots of chats with him but to no avail. Libba's tone was really interesting.

Yes he didn't want to say anything about what he would do with fev if he was coach, which said an awful lot really. Did say the time for chats was over.

Oh and I'd love to have Rehn at carlton. And carey too.

if we change Campo's last name to Shaw, or tell them that Campo is a long lost Cloke, do you think they'll give us their first pick for him?

agreed, he must be got. Cooney, Slattery, Beu Waters, Hartlett, Russell, Cam Wood plus atleast another 10 are all products of West Adelaide junior dev which Rehn really promoted. Rehn doesn't take any crap either. He had disagreements with then coach Cornes about training and strategy at the crows and he knows what it's all about. He'll be keen to come to Melbourne. It's not good for his cv to stay in SA at the crows or power and while it's nice to be settled etc he's the sort of guy who would feel it's of more benefit to go interstate.

So Carey will be at the Pies next year?

Ok.

With our current full time assistants and determining whether they will be given the arse or not, one has to look at how they have assiested the team in moving forward this year.

On that logic, I think it's fair to say that both Trout and Libba are GONE. Mitch has been the only assistant coach that has made any improvement in our list this year and has assisted Denis in overseeing the youngsters develop in the VFL.

So who do we go after to replace Trout and Libba should they be fired?

I want us to sign Rehn.
Haven't had a ruck coach in ages and I really couldn't think of a better option.
I'd also like to see us sign a midfield assistant coach.
I think we would be doing ourselves a huge favour if we signed Marcus Ashcroft.
Has been to the bottom three times and the top three times.
In other words, the bloke has done it all in football.
Couldn't think of a better option than him.

Shit he won't come to us. Pagan only wants "yes" men.

I've said it before Pagan needs to take some responsibility for our dismal year.

Do you actually reckon Pagan would let Elshaug go? Can't say that I feel strongly either way about his position, but he has been Denis' right hand man for so long.

And if it were the case we'd need to bring in at least two, maybe three new assistants would we not?

This is going to be one hell of an off season.

Alystar Lynch was on SEN last night i was impressed with the way he spoke and handles himself.
The guy has gone through a lot illness, tribunals, premierships he was coached and mentored under the greatest, played the best to his ability i believe he has a lot to offer football and would be very handy down at carlton

Caroline Wilson wrote an article saying that there could be changes within our football department come seasons end, well last week it was reported that the changes most likely to be more people added to the department not people going

Would take Shaun Rehn, no worries. So long as he doesn't wear a hat or slips on a pad...

Rehn would seem to be the perfect fit for Carlton atm. I hope we can snag him.

Forget Rehny, I want Wayne "the weed" Weideman. Thatll bring in some real aggression into the blues. Not libbas pseudo toughness.

I'm guessin Crazy that you know "the weed" is Rehn's replacement at West Adelaide for the next 2 years so errrr no that won't happen either.

How about a midfield coach from another planet and go for Andrew Jarman. Spoken to few people from North Adelaide and they say he is a players man. Everyone enjoys playing at North and they're going pretty well too.

We could do a lot worse, although I expect he won't be rated over here as he didn't play outside of SA.

One of Jars great asset is that he works well with aboriginal players. He's actively recruited from the territory and North Adelaide have just recently signed Steven Koops for next year. They've got about 5 aboriginal players in their team at the moment. Koops in the paper commented how it was a big factor in him signing for North. But I'd still go for Rehny.
