So which is it? $1.1M or $1.5M?

Its 350k plus 100k marketing..
So both kind of right...

I'll go with the $1.1 figure then. I'd imagine that if he were to leave the club he'd forfeit the marketing portion would he not?

I'm confused with the clubs thinking on Fev and what group are pushing for him to be traded and why he was re-signed if he was going to be traded...do we have a divided match comittee/football dept/senior management group
Do we have a plan at all....? Whitnall, Campo, Lappin and now Fev....is the club united in what they want to do with these players?

Jbee...point taken about the midfield..

Noone of any significance at the club wants Fev gone....

Just leave it at that...it wont happen...

Elwood, I'd guess the club is quite wisely keeping its options open with Fev. If we didn't re-sign him, then we have little currency if we wanted to trade him: he could walk to Collingwood for nothing, or in best-case, a deal skewed to the pies.

So we re-sign him, but put a bit of a rocket up his arse for next year. If he delivers, great, we're all happy. If not, then he can be traded for picks in a very strong draft in '06.

Personally, I'd be very worried hearing this talk if we were yet to re-sign him. But as it stands, the club holds all the aces.

The washup will be... that Fev 'wont agree to go anywhere'(club knows that).. we want Lance but if you want Lance you have to give us maximum trade value...

And we maximise our leveredge ...

Fev will have his best pre season ever...

Heard him on 3LO this morning driving to work - sounded pretty chipper and spruiking for the heart foundation.

Ill be very worried if FEV leaves... I think the strongest part of the side is our Forwards and if we trade our #1 Full Forward, we would need to recruit one in a few years anyway eg Nathan Thompson and Hawthorn.

Seriously all Carlton needs now is to trade FEV to St Kilda were well have to pay his remaining new contract for the next few years and we will be behind the 8 ball again, just like McKernan and Beaumont.

Also knowing Carlton’s luck challenging the ATO would back fire. We would probably need to pay some huge amount that we won’t be able to afford and the ATO would make a deal with the AFL that excludes us from Picks 1, 4 1PSD in the draft...That’s all we need lol

Some good points raised by other posters, good analysis, particularly JohnM.

The good re: Fevola -
- I suspect that his 100K for marketing would be negotiable on him being at Carlton, surely no contract would be stupid enough to guarantee him that marketing allowance if he was not at Carlton.

- He wants to stay (if what Caro says is true and she's usually right when it comes to news coming out of Carlton). He wants to get it right.

- Who of the playing group is horrified by his body language? If it's the senior players, then I'm worried. Some of their body language has been no better. Is showing passion and too much of it, caring too much, is that better than showing that you don't care? The times when Fev seems to not care are getting rarer - it's more tantrums that he's throwing. All of us get frustrated at times.

- He's on contract with us. So if he plays well, like we know he can, then we don't have to worry about him until the end of 2008. As John said, if he wasn't contracted, this wouldn't be in the media, he could walk to Collingwood where McGuire would offer him 500K+ media for a total package of 700K and he'd go to Collingwood for free.

The bad re: Fev situation-

- Why the hell are they giving him an arse-kick in the media? People who are less of a case of tragedy than us Carlton fanatics/tragics who have access to good sources at the club will see this as a big turn off and start to wonder about the club. And after this, with good reason.

- Media stunts can backfire and I hope this won't happen.

- Like all players, should not be regarded as untradeable - if he's disappointing next year, then I still think he'd have enough currency to garner a 1st round pick and we wouldn't have to worry about losing him for nothing either.

An interesting side note in Caro's article:

Quote:
It is understood the only club Fevola would consider moving to is St Kilda, an option both geographically attractive and also alluring in a personal sense as he is good friends with Saint Fraser Gehrig, now certain to play on next season.

Wasn't there word of the Saints counting on GTrain's retirement at the end of the year as a factor in their contract offer for Kosi? How the hell are they staying under the cap???

Probably because the Club have exhausted all other avenues and they needed to try something different to give Fev a rocket.

Thought it was interesting when Denis publicly admitted he and Fev have "different footy philosophies" recently. Not sure what to read into that one... :?

This whole process is important for the Lance trade ....

Dont worry about it if you want Fev to stay...

I'm just concerned that my Fevola-inspired pubic dreads will go out of style........ unless we pick up Courtney Johns, of course... but then I have this "cuffs and collar" problem.........

advice?

Is Fev a urolagniac?

First he pisses down Denis's back and then he wants to be with Fraser Gehrig.

I guess at least it's sterile. :?

Noone actually heard Fevola say anything but he wont leave the club and loves it here...
Tjhe rest is all a journalist doing a 'poly filler' ad.

Fev's manager on SEN earlier today was open to the possiblity of a trade but had stated that he had not been approached by the club at this stage.
