as others have said it all depends on what happens over summer. With that in mind I would expect improvement in the list and in our potential - but i do not see this as meaning we'll perform better. Histoircally teams that rebuild with youth go through about 3 poor years, we've done 1 so 2 more to go i expect.

Next year bottom three

Year after bottom four

then we may begin to see some results - albiet erratic - say bottom six

then a steady improvement maybe a fimnal if lucky.

2010 - I agree this is the year!

Probably a season similar to the Hawks this year, competitive in most games with the odd win against handy opposition while giving the youngsters important jobs every week. There aren't many Hawks supporters that are unhappy at the moment, are there?. 8)

The gradual improvement of Bentick, Fisher, Waite, Walker, Simpson, Russell, Hartlett, Betts, Blackwell and this year's draft picks far outweighs the importance of wins at this stage.

And if those players improves the wins will come you can guarantee that.

Bottom 4

Still a long way to go, I highly doubt we'll be competitive against the top 4 teams, we just don't have the talent to compete with their midfields.

One of the main factors will be having midfielders who are accountable.....this year has been a disaster in terms of staying on your man

Exactly. An accountable midfield makes everyone's job easier, especially our defence. The midfield was more a cause of having the most points against that our defence IMO.

Sneaking out of the bottom 4 would be a good result assuming we don't recruit anyone capable of making a major impact and don't lose anyone of significance.

I'd like to see us play attacking footy like we have towards the end of the season. I'd hope we could crack 100 points in half our games.

I hope our percentage improves, because that will mean our defence is on the improve.

Like to see Setanta, Russell and one of our top draft choices playing most of the season in the seniors.

We will be down the bottom again and will take a another step backwards if we lose any more experienced players. Prenda, Wiggins, Sporn and Livo are the guys who should of stepped up with Waite to join Stevo, Lance and Fev and become the heart of the side but they haven't cut it. Now we just have a huge gulf between Kouta, French, Campo and Walker, Simpson, Bentick etc.

Id rather see a draft picks play a bit of VFL first. Let them get their confidence up and learn the game. Playing against 17. 18 years olds to the AFL is a big step. Dennis has got a pretty good history with bringing theough players in the seconds and junior ranks. They wont have much of an impact anyway so lets make sure when they debut in 2007 or late 2006 they are ready for it. Agree with Russel and Setanta. Also like to see Hatlet play seniors as well. He seems injury prone

P.S one of them better win a NRS.

I'll get back to you once the AFL advise us what the new qualification criteria are for PP's from next year onwards will be  (I didn't mention the "T" word)

Seriously, bottom 4, even bottom 2 if one or two of Campo, Lappin, or Big Red leave.

Most likely bottom 4 but possibly top 4 if two or more of Lance, Campo and Lappin leave.

You can't underestimate the power of crap leadership.

I expect no improvement.

I look forward to being surprised.

Synbad, you asked the question, what do you think?

That old chestnut ey!

Depends on what happens in the off-season.

Agree with GWS, leadership is important, very important.

It's part of momentum, and momentum also includes fresh faces, fresh energy.

But even if we had a great off-season, I still don't think we'd crack the 8. Could well be bottom 4 again.

But then who really knows? Pagan got them up in the Wizzard Cup, and they kicked 7 goals in the 1st Qtr what, 3 games straight late in the year?

We NEED another priority pick. We NEED Picks 1 & 2 next year.

We'll be a serious force by 2010.

Only one position means anything in 2006 - stone cold motherless last.

We need to win no more games in 2006 than we did in 2005.

2006 will be a good year for travelling. Go and see the Pyramids. Or the Great Wall of China. Forget wins.

2007 will be an improvement.

2008 will bring hope.

2009 we'll be something.

2010 -2012 we'll be a force.

2013 will be the slippery slide back down again.

Fingers crossed we win 3 in a row 2010-11-12.

If we don't win 2010 though we have to can the leadership group and start again. F#$% Walker he has become a downhill Skier, F#$%^ Waite his time has passed won't be in next premiership, F%^& Marc Murphy he should take a paycut. We need to tank to get the picks so we can hang them when their 27.

Bottom three next season, especially if we go for youth and play Setanta in the seniors for much of the year (in place of Lance probably). But as long as the kids are developing, I'll be happy. At this stage, it isn't so much about having a win/loss target rather than assessing the development of the list and our ability to foster youth.

If the leadership group deserve to be hammered they will get hammered.
What you would hope is with the current change of guard and the shedding of a shithouse selfish culture the next group of leadership players can maintain some pride for the jumper they wear .

In my opinion we will be bottom 2 next year again... but youll see more signs and glimpses of the future and we will take another step to turning the club around.

I wouldnt be aiming at the finals next year.. thats just lunacy.
Id be aiming at improving and developing the kids at a rate that will allow us a sustained stay at the top when were ready...

well i just hope the PP are removed from next year draft and that whole system is restructured or removed alltogether

This year we were poor but it dosnt neam i think the system is a good one

So if the draft is deep next year we will be in the bottom 6 and will still get someone decent ... but regardless i still want to see a competative Blues outful and seen to be developing

I hope any changes to the PP are made BEFORE the season starts and not halfway through. All teams deserve that, no point in the AFL changing the rules halfway through the season ... is there!
