I asked this question on another thread but got no response :(
Does anyone have an inside on whether the club has decided that MM is definately our number 1 pick?

tis was the same in 2004 when we picked up Walker Melbourne wanted him so they went to the media with a story about his bung knee hoping we would bypass him in the draft.

The same with Juddy no one wanted to touch him because he had dodgy shoulders look at him now.

Some people go and watch games, follow the progress of players and make informed judgements.
Then again others sit back and make statements based on ignorance.
I've seen Murphy play heaps of games from under 14s onwards.

What do you base your claims on? :?

Eddie wanted Murph desperately...

I've never seen Eddie look so down..

The look on his face after the "Last Suburban Battle" at Optus after we won by 114pts (?) was pretty down.

Yea that too!! 8)

Any chance we could be in a bit of strife if we have indeed offered MM a 3 year deal?

Apparently we aren't allowed to do that and only the Lions can given that he was a potential F/S selection.

Who said we offered Murphy anything????

We can if he nominates though... and we choose him...

Look all we REALLY know is he knocked back an offer from Brissy... and that means he wants to play for us.... :-D

Can offer a contract for any length I'm pretty sure, as long as we only pay him what he would normally be getting in the first two years

now all we have to do is beat those bloody cocky Poms
This will be a real start to our regeneration when a gun turns his back on the Lions and chooses the navy blues
Why dont we have marc have a chat to salopek because obviously port dont want him and they could discuss how they are going to fit in the midfield rotation next year at Carlton 8)
You bloody beauty

I've never seen MM play, but I'll take the word of those in the know. This is great news for Carlton. Well done Kenny, Synbad and others...

Now Marc is in contention, can't we just play the field and keep the other team's guessing? Being secretive and making statements like, we haven't offered him a contract or we are yet to make a decision and there are 4 or 5 players in contention, these are the things recruiters live for.

Let Wayne Hughes have some fun.

And then come draft day, we'll take Murph anyway.

Redundant News 8) but still Good
Quote:
Collingwood, which has the second pick, is desperate to recruit the 18-year-old, 178cm, 75kg son of former Fitzroy great John Murphy.

Tanks for nothing!
Quote:
But their hopes now rely on Carlton opting to use the draft's No. 1 pick for a taller player, which was the Blues' initial aim with the priority selection.

He's a monty, I hope. :?
Quote:
The Blues recruiting department is yet to rank this year's draftees, but it is understood there was a push inside the club this week to snare Murphy with the first priority selection in the national draft

kennyhunter on the mark.

Well let's hope with a season or 2 of PROPER development young Marc can be the gun he's so hyped up to be.
