Well, it's all up to the board now. The terrible three have put the ball back in the board's court.
They've called the club's bluff, Lance and Lappin especially. Campo's been backed into a corner because of lack of interest.
Who's gunna hold their nerve? Collo can't afford to be seen to back down now after all his talk about contracts and players taking what's on offer etc.
We'd lose even more credibility if we caved in and gave them what they want. It's how this mess started. Someone has to take a stand.

Very simple decision for the board I'dve thought.

on what basis would lance want $400K??

he can't even guarantee the MINIMUM expectation of a professional athlete .... present himself in an appropriate manner to play the flower game!!

he wants $400K to play loose man in defence, 3rd man up role .... someone should have a word to jason cloke!!

lance can't even guarantee that he will drop the ball onto his boot in the appropriate manner to hit a target (lance supporters ... have a look at wayward way he guides the ball onto boot when kicking on the run, even without pressure ..... !!!). we give it to davies for his inability to hit a target, well lance has the same "lazy" kicking action .... nothing a bit of hard work and concentration couldn't fix!!!! but that's not the carlton way anymore.

i used to watch carlton train in the "good old days". remember watching doull and curly austin get onto the track well before the others and practise all sort of kicks. doull was always a beautifully balanced player and kick, but curly had to work on his kicking. curly worked so hard on his kicking that he became super reliable, even if his action was ugly.

lance on the other hand wont work on any of his defficiencies, cos he's got such footy smarts!!

good luck to him i say ... go get your $400K .... am long fed up with these guys!!!!!

for those apologists of all things buffoon jack carlton .... go and do some research into how some collingwood "superstars" of the 70s de-railed their club ... and make some analogies!!!!!

Synbad you wrote earlier that we need a captain who will go out with the boys and have a beer with them i think your wrong.

The boys down at the club get along pretty well i have seen them out poeple i know have seen them out the boys geeling together is not the issue. Some one has to set an example, be professional and respected.

I know there are a few issues with Fev and some but you have to remember not every one can get along, you fight then your friends again the next day boys will be boys.

Coutts on 927 says Caro was not there & is not sure how she knows. Says no one at the club knows anything about it.

Of course he is going to say that.
I'm not so sure how good an operator he is

Given the amount of justified criticsm we make about Caro, I'm pretty amazed at how so many have jumped onto this piece of 'journalism' that probably wouldn't get a C in Year 10.

As to what to do with Lance etc, well, it saddens me 'cos I know that all 3 will go somewhere else and blitz. But as Kenny pointed out, a stand has to be taken.

And it means a club will profit just as we did when we snaffled Stevens.

It still somewhat surprises me the level of vitriol leveled at Lance. At the end of the day, he is a KPP with 200+ games. They don't grow on trees. Sure, he may not be the greatest KPP, but he's gonna be bloody difficult to replace. We only have to look at the problems we have in our backline. Without experienced bodies, we've had to throw several young players to the wolves and watched them get eaten alive.

When Lance and Fev go out there, they take the top backmen 1 and 2. Without them, suddenly those backmen go onto Waite etc and its a whole new ball game.

I wish I had the solution. Wish I could make them love the club, get super fit and concentrate on what they are good at.

I bet Pagan does too.

a swap for Mal Michael would be ideal - but it will never happen ... Whitnalls asking price is too high

but the point you make above is valid - we need a backman urgently and any swap of whitnall should ideally yield a backman of similar years in the system

Lance did bugger all over three of the last four years...

We will have a much younger side but he wont make that much of a difference.
Without him and a couple of others youll see we will be more accountable.
What we will lose is a big body.. (ut it was never used BIG)

Reported on 104.3 this morning that Fevola may be up for trade and Richmond are interested.

According to CSC, the same thing was said on SEN.
Also a rumour going around is Bartel for Tarrant.

And they wouldn't give him up for Fevola.

As I said in the recruitment section...

Schultz + Hartigan + 1st rounder > Carlton
Fevola + Davies + 2nd rounder > Richmond

So we make a stand just like we did with Hamill those years ago. Players can't hold us over the coals. No sir ey. We will show them. Incidentally where have we been since we got rid of Hamill?

There is a Jim Wilson article in the Herald-Sun saying that Fevola is being shipped around with Richmond showing an interest.

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/common/story_page/0,8033,16597174%255E20322,00.html

I have got to say that I don't understand why we are trying to get rid of our best players. Fev, Lance, Campo and Lappin are all top 10 players. Shouldn't we be getting rid of our bottom 10 players? Bowyer, Clarke, ... That should be the priority, unless of course they land us some highly prized draft picks. I don't want more recycleds. Just look who we have delisted already. There is a theme.
