No, my understanding was that it was under 19's only.

I work on the same floor as Ahmed, though he works on the other side of a secured bullet proof glass wall.

He caught me in the elevator once just after I had an operation on my foot, and made a few jokes about my footware (I was wearing a slipper).

He's 38 YO. His father used to be a cleaner for NAB, now he runs the joint.

He's exceptionally bright, able to quickly understand concepts and ideas and grow them. Probably not the best public speaker I've ever heard, but he does come across as "one of the boys" which instantly make people like him.

I've heard he doesn't suffer fools gladly though.

He would be an exceptional board member. I hope this comes to fruition.

Smorgon has been riding the coat tails of Collo for three years now...Id love to know what he has actually done for this footy club as an individual.. not collectively with Carlton 1.

Id be extremely interested to find out the answer of this...

He is not really a footy person...
He has been unable to help find a sponsor.....

i want to kknow how he is second in charge...!!!!

i hope this NAB bloke is as good as Collo thinks.. so we do have a president.

PS Collo might not be around too much longer...

Smorgon is big on the dosh. Maaybe thats where hes helping out.
Doubt it!!!!

Mentions his carlton background.

Quote:
It was not the end of his connection to the club. Some years later as a top-flight consultant he tried to stop his club from kicking an own-goal when he advised it not to build the ill-fated Legends Stand at Optus Oval. Then president John Elliott ignored the recommendation.

Tyrant, if we could get him, he'd be the recruit of the year.

And yep, thats exactly how he'd operate.

I read he has a 4 year contract with NAB which started in September last year. So unless he is prepared to give that up I cant see him moving onto the board. Unless he is prepared to do that.

sounds perfect then.

I read that Age article as well a while back. He has global experience as well, having spent some considerable time in New York (from memory).

I've never liked Pokies..... I don't know about these Pokies millionaires.... But I trust people in charge of Banks... thats a good wholesome profession

No... he'd do both like Collo does.

NAB are apparently paying him 39 million over the 4 years to do it. Cant see them being to understanding and cant see him doing both.
Maybe he has told the club he has had enough of it.

Now, I might be a bit of a novice by business terms, but isn't this what top CEOs do? They have a fulltime gig but sit in various boards around the place in addition to their paying gig?

Collo is CEO of Telstra Dome AND Carlton president. I suspect Collo works long thankless hours as Telstra Dome chief..... and still puts in for Carlton. No reason why Ahmed couldn't do it either, if he wanted to.

Sitting on the boadr he could do. Taking over from Collins I dont think he could do until his contract with NAB was up (another 3 years). We need some changes on the board and a Carlton supporter like him with his business acumen and contacts.
