You're probably right. I think Lappin is the the player we've screwed over the most. I think we were paying Kouta, Lance and Campo so much that we probably never paid him what he was worth from 2001 - 2004 when he was our most consistant player and an All Australian once (and should have been in 2001 as well). And he showed loyalty to the club. Consequently, I have no qualms with moving along Lance and if needs be delisting Campo (cause I don't think we'll get a trade for him) if it means we can free up enough $$ to pay him a fair two year deal that will maybe give him some of the security he's looking for.
If after making a deal for Lappin, there's still enough $$ for a base salary deal for Campo then fair enough. But really, if he plays on he'll only be taking a kids spot. Simmo blossomed when given game time in the midfield after Campo was moved to the back pocket. I don't want Russell's development slowed as well by having Campo taking up his spot for the next two years.
