How effective is our official board when we have a cabal of "agitators" like Mathieson, Lofts in the background pulling strings.

Next thing you will know there will be rumours of an influential group of supporters getting together at a well know Melbourne Pub owned by a former Carlton Premiership Player agitating for change.

Shhhhhh

TO be honest, we were too late. With Harold, you need to strike while the iron is hot...others have already got him onto their Boards. Carlton is reactive...not proactive in all areas of operation. And if Harold sees too many red flags, there's no way he's going to say yes. And right now...there are a lot of red flags.

We The club failed to get our their shit together. Instead, they put something on paper that looked as though everyone and everyone was on the same page and there'd be two premierships before 2015. It's farcical what has happened to our club. They couldn't even convince Harold to take on the old Laurie Kerr role (Laurie was pulling all the strings while Ian Rice was President)...I think that'd be ideal...leave Sticks in...have him rev the boys up against the Bombers, speak at President's luncheons, meet and greet sponsors, coterie groups and members...but don't have him making decisions FFS! Alas...no dice.

Interesting that Caro reporting that some stuff happened mid-season...this thread began in June....but Caro's article sounds about right. Although Wes Lofts being an 'agitator'...not sure Wes gets too involved anymore. GWS?

Not sure about Wes. I know he still talks to people and he certainly has strong opinions on individuals but I'm not sure how much of a power base he'd have left.

At a guess his greatest influence is probably over Sticks.

Wes has more pressing issues at hand..... health.....

One thing's for certain - the AGM this December will be stage managed with the presentation of the new coach (whoever that is  ) - and possibly a pre-meeting with the agitators to ensure that no hard, irritating, embarrassing questions are asked.

Least it's well and truly out in the public domain now ... not just sad sacks like us whinging about on fan forums. The push is on but Sticks is hanging on like a limpit.

Disappointing to see Kernahan laying the responsibility on others yet again at yesterday's presser.

As I've written before, at the EGM that ousted Elliott, Kernahan was asked about the onfield performance of the team. He said as football director, he accepted that he had failed. When asked about the finances, he said he didn't know about the financial stuff, ask John (Elliott). Failed at one, didn't know anything about the other. Accountability? None.

Sacking of Brittain he said yesterday was Elliott's decision, not his.

Sacking of Pagan was Pratt's decision, not his. Remember that Pratt said he left all football decisions to Kernahan. (FWIW, I agreed with the sacking, what I disagreed with was extending Pagan's contract out to 3 years on the back of winning the pre-season comp.)

Finally he took responsibility for something yesterday. Accountability? None. He wants to stay on until 2014. The members want him he reckons.

He's been associated with ever incompetent board we've had since Elliott, defended them to the hilt until they got voted (Smorgon) or chucked (Elliott) out, then said that the previous board hadn't been good enough and they needed to get better.

It's time.

Agree re Swann............We wanted Cook, and got Swann. We want Roos, and we will get Malthouse.More recipe for disaster when you settle for second best..........................better to throw the million bucks at Ben Buckley.

It's a funny market the Sports Admin market.

It seems hard to tell the good from the not so good. There are obvious standouts, but a lot it's hard to tell their worth.

I always liked Gallop in the NRL but he seemed to have detractors. Ben Buckley didn't fill me with enthusiasm either (or a lot of A League people) but now he's seen as a "must get" for North.

Cook is universally praised, but not many are.

As a matter of interest, how many of our many board members were actually voted on by the members? I dont recall Jeannie Pratt being up for election, seems ages since i have had to vote.

I can see it... as i peek into the future.....

after trashing the club... sticks will make a ripper exit speech .................................
mark my words... and this speech is meant to mean something to some people about "loves the club etc"
This speech will be enough to balance things back so as Sticks was a great president....

We love our personalities...... more than we love our club

I wonder what the Pratts, Geminders, Suss and Fried think of that sort of comment.

What Sticks knows about Nazi Germany, he probably learnt from Hogan's Heroes.

You have a folksy, top bloke kinda guy as your chairman, you're going to get this sort of thing. We're Carlton $%#@ the rest!

(I expect the vast majority of people won't have a problem with his nazi thing though. "hey people say that kind of thing all the time... they don't mean anything by it. political correctness gone mad." But really, it's the sort of thing you expect the bootstudder to come out with, not your chairman).

Local footy club stuff, in the AFL. Pretty scary really.

I amy be a little bit pissed but I would just like to say:

The stupidity of Sticks knows no bounds but I would like to know who the hell ok’d the ‘killing of Bambi’ press conference?

WTF, hasn’t Sticks any minders? Is Swanny equally stupid?

Talk about mauling a brand… Yet again!

Why couldn’t they have just released the normal low key press statement – we had to let him go, loyal servant, best of luck, Bla Bla Bla.

FGS, you call press conferences for positive news! Like the signing of a new coach! Sprinkle him with confetti and trot him out as the face of next year. Get everyone excited and member numbers soaring.

But no, this idiot had to air all our dirty laundry - so he could somehow convey how bad he feels.

F&&k the club, Sticks image as the loyal mate is far far more important!

Sticks is a fool, the board is clueless and this fantastic list of number ones's will be left to dribble away, dissipating into the ether – no guidance, no flags, no hope…
