Synbad,

Not trying to launch a personal attack on you - simply trying to keep the discussion honest.

I'm not suggesting that I know more than you. You clearly have a good insight into the club, however, constantly bagging the decisions in order to support your position does become tiresome.

Quote:
Not trying to convince anybody because...
I stated this before Collo told everyone Whitnalls contract will not be looked at before the end of season.. and hes had enough!!!...

It is the end of the season & that's why they are looking at Lance's contract - exactly what Collo said.

Now if i accused your post as BANANAS youd probably cry wouldnt you???

Probably not, I tend not to become too emotional over these issues

Synbad, I have to admit i was alarmed to hear that the board is considering upping their offer to close to 400k. Surely that is not right?

Tell me noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooootttt..
Tell me that isn't true.

300k is the maximum. How can they justify offering this player this much money?

400k - that pushes him up in the league of players such as Voss, above Akermanis etc. They have produced results. Whitnall has produced nothing.

Can you name other players from other clubs that are on 400k and then we can see who we are comparing Lance against?

I would think 400k is about what Tredrea is on and Lance isn't even HALF the player of Tredrea. Are the board members mad?

I can't understand why they would choose to keep Lance and increase on their original offer. Surely it has nothing to do with lack of interest, because it was only a month or so ago that we read that there were at least 4 clubs interested in Lance.

On here we also learnt that the Bulldogs were potentially the best club for Lance and he was interested in their offer.

Something doesn't add up...

It'd have to be a pretty big offer for them to do a backflip like this.

Although the other bloke who is using MCB's account seems to think that Fevola may end up at Richmond for Tambling.

Doubt it would happen.

Lance is only a year older than Fev, it's not like Fev is 20... he's 25 and will be 26 next year....and he is still having his tantrums... the club, if they are fed up, are justified.

Not excatly right on ages - as they currently stand - fev is app 24.6, and lance 26.1 - there is app 18 months between the two - and i suppose the other relevant factor is that most predict that lance will struggle to play into his late 20s. I would say that if we dont get rid of lance this year, his currency will signficantly drop like a car being taken out of the lot for the first time.

Fev should be basically in his prime in the next 2 seasons, and if we can get a midfield, i think u will all be happy with his performance.

I'd be content with keeping whitnall, and hopefully if he stays he will try hard with his role at chb, despite his speed limitations.

In all reality, whether he goes or stays, aint going to be to huge a thing imo. we have lots of draft picks to have a shot at the youngsters, and we have the psd. No matter what happens, there are gonna be a lot of new faces at the club next year which is the main thing.

The Buck stops with Collo

He is El Presidente and has an Ego on what he thinks is right and wrong
He is head of the Match Commitee and also can influence the make up of the Day Team
He also has his right hand man of Football Manager Grant Williams which will do as collo requests

Having said all that he has done some good thing but also made mistakes.

Also now that the Saints are out of the prelim with Gehrig looking to retire i would now think Saints will deal to get either Fev or Whits to Morabbin one of those 2 will end up at the Saints and i would expect that Goddard would prob be one option for Saints to unload.

Fev - he was a saints supported would replace Gehrig and would be offered similar to Gehrig in salary

Whits - Was talking to Saints last year also the old Hamil / Whits connection and could be used in the Fwd Role with Hamil and Riewalt

but i would say now that one will go to the saints

I wouldnt be dealing with the Saints unless they offered us a gun footballer.. and they wont.
So why wouyld i help StKilda to improve their list????

Bugger them!!!!

Clubs should stop dealing with them unless they have another Fiora / McGough for them to take....

I suspect Synbad if Saints do loose Gehrig then they will look at someone like Fev or Whits

Rem Fev still has say of where he wants to be traded if we push him to be traded and Whits was talking with the Saints last year

Ummm the other trade i have heard for Fev dosnt really fill me with joy even less than a trade with Saints

Rem Saints will loose possible

Thompson / Pecker / Gehrig / Fiora / Guirra look Gone
Harvey / Aussie Jones will be thinking about retirement

Big hole in senior Player list

I would let StKilda trade for a Hay.....

There is no way any club should be looking at trading a player of the ilk of Fev for their first round pick and Goddard.....!!!!

Let them draft their way out with pick 17 or whatever they have.....

If they dont win a premiership soon the salary cap will get them....

AS i said this will have a lot to do with what Gehrig decides to do and i suspect he will hang up the boots if that happens one of Fev or Whits will be strongly looked at by the Saints possibly Fev as he would also iniate a move to the Saints but may not with any other club so for the Blues trade fev would have to be to a team he wants to go to and if there is a vacany at the Saints then Fev would seem to be the most likely candidate. That is of course if the Blue hieracy are serious in wanting to offload Fev

thanks Wolfe for answering my next question - who is head of match commitee

... so if I understand correctly, Pagan writes a list of who he wants to keep in order of priority ....and I assume how many draft picks - and then hands this to the MC

Collo and the commitee then decide how to manage the retention of these players ... however the comment that even the board are a rabble really concerns me - do I interpret that to mean that Collo is a dictator ala Elliot and whatever he sayes goes ... or is it Sticks that is causing the ripples

on any committee there will be stronger members - the real influencing members ... I would love to know who they are Collo, Sticks ....am I close?

Ciccio

The match commitee is made up of Collo / Sticks / Pagan / Grant Williams and one other who i can remember but i dont know if it is dictatorship more a clash of Ego's ... Collo from what i hear has a very strong ego and imposes himself wanting to be hands on in all matters fair few decisions have worried me ... how much this has an effect on the Pagan / Collo relationship i am not privy to but i would rather that DP be given as much control he needs and some of the decisions this year that has been made have made me wonder who is making decisions in the board / Match comittee. some things that have happeed this year dont have Pagan on it even some of the decisions on who is playing on the field dont look like Pagan had complete control of who he wants playing.

Also i dont think Grant Williams is very popular as the Football manager ex Northern Ballarat Football manager so not sure how good his credentials are for AFL level.

But yer i have had concerns of the runing of the club just have kept quiet in hope that it sorts itself out.

ChairmAN of selectors is Sticks.
Collo is not on the match committee...
Grant Williams was not at the Bullants thaTS Mark Williams current Sandy coach.
GraNt Williams is more an administrator and is from the AFL i think.

Not really a footy person... but savvy with computers and admin.

Nice bloke but im not sure is he is footy inclined enough.

"Before joining the Blues this year, Williams worked for AFL Sports Ready - an initiative of Collins in his days as the AFL's football operations manager - that provides jobs for people, including former players, in the sports industry."
