Or discussing which first round pick they should trade to Collingwood for Richard Cole.

And Carlton key-position player Lance Whitnall remains out of contract despite his position being discussed at length at a board meeting this week.

Whitnall was hoping that a new two-year deal would have been finalised before he left for an overseas holiday.

Blues chief executive Michael Malouf yesterday said the club and Whitnall's agent Ricky Nixon were still in the negotiating phase. "I don't expect anything to happen until Lance comes back from holiday," Malouf said.

The dispute is purely over remuneration and it is understood the Carlton board did not increase its previous offer.

Whats there to negotiate? Lance it is simple mate, you will be paid $350k a year for 2 years to play with the club your meant to bleed for. If you do not like it request a trade.

I still think the board can be more forceful in making a statement towards uncontracted players, the release form Malouf is a bit soft IMO.

"If" the info about 360K over 2 years is true and Whitnall is baulking, the I am extremely disappointed in Lance.

It is pretty much on the mark Surrey.

Message to Lance:

Give Steven Gerrard a call and ask him why he stayed with Liverpool instead of taking the big money from Chelski.

He surely isn't going to walk out over $50k (which after tax is about $25k). :garthp:

I would be a lot happier if our offer was 300 by 2 years and Melb was 400k by 3 years.
Thats an incentive to leave not 25k after tax.

Still at least better than 'poised to sign' and be ratified by the board a few days ago that I read.

We should have drawn the line at $330k. $360 is too much.

We should have drawn the line on our offer to Lance when we started hitting things above those starting with a "2".

I reckon 2 hamburgers is all he's worth.
