In honour of the media's number one flower Talking Carlton now brings you the Rucci Medal.

Please post nominations below for media flower of the year including reasons as to why you believe they deserve to win the Rucci.

When a suitable number of nominations are in a poll will be posted and voting may commence.

Who will take home Mikky tonight?

Nomination: Mike Sheahan for gratuitous use of column inches while saying little of any merit or newsworthiness. And for being, well, Mike Sheahan.

Robert walls for sensationalising everything he can get his mits on and missing the mark 9 times out of ten, ie. explaing how the cats have lost their claws and wont make the finals - just before they slammed westcoast.

runners up:

Anthony Hudson for continually trying to come up with great commentary lines that will be repeated ala "Jessalinko, you beauty!" and for being a manchild.

Dermot Brereton for prefacing everything with "he's a ripping bloke" and saying "just" 5 times a sentance.

Don't forget Eddie Mcguire, Garry Lyon. I mean how far up Eddie's barge arse can Garry Lyon can go.

Michael Cristian for being a total nob-end, and not actually understanding the game he's calling, 7 times out of 10, unless he sees the ump signal the free, he gives it to the player for the wrong reason, or says it's the other guy's free. And for getting hysterical over every trivial piece of crap play every match.

Patrick Smith would be a shoe in every year GWS, you should just name the medal after him.

I wondered about that initially but I reckon Tony Jones would have to be hot favourite this year.

...and Rucci himself has to be good for a nomination doesn't he?

For me, it's any or all of the following.

Pat Smith. For all the reasons previously discussed on TC, TBV and every other football site in the universe.

Brian Taylor. For his never-ending quest to be funny and controversial. And failing miserably.

Jim Brayshaw. Same as above.

Eddie McGuire. For being Eddie McGuire.

too many to mention but I will anyway
Brereton over technical on every issue and just so up himself
Mike Sheahan reacts to every situation in an instant says nothing of note in his column
Robert walls no wonder he has been sacked from 3 coaching jobs Very quick to put players down and highlight bad points with a school boy being told off by teacher attitude
Brownless the idiot image is wearing thin.If he refers to beer as frothies anymore he is a certainty.
Stan ( i have got to say this) Alves gets under my skin with continual over the top comments
Drew Morphett I dont Know but I have never liked him.

Steven Silvangi In one word Boring
Eddie McGuire no explanation needed
Brendon Fevola An embarrasment

And while where at it here are the best of the best

Sellers Maclure to the point and with a touch of humour.
Cometi Blight are good
Rex
Carey
Nathan Brown
Taylor

the winner in my view is Stan the man Alves
