Totally agree - great post...

Just one thing that bothers me...can you imagine how stuffed our lads would be if they had to run across the ground to support EVERY player after EVERY mistake we made during a match???!!!

The trainer wouldn't have enough stretchers to carry them off!!

Yer i went to the swans afl dinner last nite was a good insite into the club and how they felt that they had won this GF they sound like a very unitied unit but i guess any team would be if they had won the GF lol

ALso Roos made a statement that that it was a 3 year plan to get the cup and i guess they did but could have gone either way

They also stated that the team was very united had a very good medical group who kept the players on the track. Admitted the side wernt the most talented but stated they where the most determined in the competition and i guess if you saw the GF there are elements of what he says ..

Good nite in all good insite into the swans inner sanctum a bit ... lots of celebs lol and free beer hahahaa

I guess in part it just backs up what Parkin said years ago: That the team who goes into a GF with the least injuries is usually the one to win.

HUH?

How about reading this thread again.

I think you are seriously missing the intended message or are you just taking the mickey out of us?

Its a no brainer to point out that the times we were most successful and played our best footy this year - eg Wiz Cup, both games v Port, our wins against Richmond and Collingwood - we were ferocious at the contest and chased, tackled and pressured the opposition strongly.

This is the way a less talented team can compete with the star teams.

No, I'm not missing the point. I went OT a bit, but yesterday's Sydney win does back that statement up.

Did YOU read the thread? That I said originally that I agree 100% with what was posted originally?

And if West Coast had of marked and goaled in the last minute you'd all be talking about how a superior midfield wins premierships and comparing them to Brisbanes. You lot are a joke.

Good post.

Was disappointed when no-one congratulated Bryan on kicking his first goal as well. Just can't believe a side coached by Denis is so lacking in team spirit.

What a great post. Swans have mastered the basics & it paid off.

Imagine how much of an absolute wanker Fevola would look in that side, dropping his head when passes didn't go his way.

great post Mick. I remember Kerna's infamous kick after the siren ag. Essendon* in 93 when he missed the lot and cost us a win. First guy over to support him was Andy McKay, a first year player with captains qualities. Imagine what TBird would have said to Ablett had he been the with the Swan's, I don't think it would have been encouragement.

Good call Willie!

You're right Synbad, but the coach must instil that. I think both grand final coaches are very good at encouraging a unity and team ethic. According to Martin Pike Pagan tears players to bits in front of the group. not sure if that is the best way to instill unity and foster encouragement

good point, this. you can hardly say West Coast did something tangibly wrong. They were in it all day and had the run in the 3rd and part of the last.

too many posts on here have adopted the integrity of Tony Jones.

OH MY GOD!!! WEST COAST ARE SHIT AND WERE NEVER EVER LIKELY TO WIN!!!! BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WIN PROVES THIS!!!!

err..... no

A coach can have his hands full rocking a comfortable boat for some of the players who get paid very, very well.. and if they cant play to that kind of payment should at least help around the place with morale instead of trying to rock the boat even more.....

Oh! and Pikes career was saved by Denis....

And if theyre playing a MANS game it would help if they were MEN and not BOYS......

Fancy crying because Pagan tore shreds out of players who cant perform at the highest level but are happy stealing' money from the club...

Im pretty tired of sissy boys on and off the field...

Its not like theyre just sissys in the change rooms.. theyre sissys on it too..

And who cares what Pike thinks????
Mathews does the same...

And ask blokes like Harvey, Archer, Carey,Stevens about Pagan...

Not Kouta, Lance and Campo.....

There are winners and there are also rans....

Our blokes are not winners ... theyre also rans...

WestCoast where unlucky in losing both Braun and Kerr.
WestCoast "should" have played Matera (if fit as most say).

This team will be a force over the next few years, that you can pencil in.

Actually Pikey said Mathews doesn't handle things like DP. Waits a couple of days and then will tear strips off a player in private, not humiliate them in front of the group. Got no problems with a coach being tough, but I want him to be effective. I thnik Roos has got a team without the most talent to win a flag. I understand that we don't have any Boltons or Kirks, or Crouch etc. but the coach has to get the best out of what he has got. DP has a couple of years to show whether he can cut it in the new millenium, be interesting to see what happens

I am thinking of running the following classified in The Hun tomorrow...

WANTED : LEADERS for CARLTON Football Club. Must have desire to win and NEVER LOSE. Must play for the jumper. Must desire to get all 22 players headed in the same direction with the same common goal. Must never give in. Must not whinge. Must not lean of fences. Must have strong character and lead by example. Good but not the best renumeration. Vacant Positions : Captain, Vice Captain, Deputy Vice Captain need filling pronto. Call 1800-WE-NEED-LEADERS.
