Ok boys, lets start at the top. List your top 5 candidates in order for President. Then we will go from there.

You mean they went through an interview process, a list of candidates, and then chose Ratts?

Sticks - "G'day Vossy, look mate, where a bit scant on cash at the minute we can only offer $50k, you still interested ??"
Voss - "Thanks all the same mate..."

Sticks - "Ratts mate, we need a bit of swagger back can you help us ??"
Ratts - "YESSSSS !!! GO BLUES !!!!!"
Sticks - "The job's yours mate lets get outta here and I'll shout you a Crowny"

Is Greg Swan still CEO ?

I have not seen or heard from this guy all year, he seems to only turn up when there's good news if any ,what does he actually do or his fat cat salary?

I think Carlton needs to look at these guys, our recruiters and development coaches, the scary part is that the Northern Blues are just as shit as the senior team so wherevtonfrom here??

Summary of 2013?

Sobering, disappointing and deflating. Going nowhere with this list and need a major renovation at best.

Not to mention changes required off field with coaching structure, coaching personnel, recruitment and development.

Don't hold much hope for the next 2-3 years, which depresses me.

the way I look at it there has been 2 sides that have gone out of their way to tank and both are basket cases
I said it then and I say it now it was the wrong message to send to the playing group it said that winning doesn't matter - Even now people are suggesting we should have shut up shop and rebuild the list
The coach is even saying he has to go to the draft indicating that it doesn't really matter what the results are

to be successful you need a must win at all cost culture we still don't have it because the people around the club feel that its ok to lose because your draft picks become better - so do supporters
Well what have all those early draft picks achieved - zilch

you ask what winning those extra few games could of got us
well
Thomas instead of Murphy
Pendlebury instead of Kennedy
Selwood instead of Gibbs
Cotchin instead of Kruezer
Tippett instead of Hampson

tanking proves nothing and improving one place in the draft does nothing

Wasted year. Cannot see any improvements to take us into next year. Same old.

Ok one positive for me was Menzel. That's it...

I'm not as bullish.

We have holes in all areas of the ground.

Our rucks are ordinary... our midfield lacks depth... our back line is reliant on Jammo, we have no other quality tall backs. Our forward line is reliant on Hendo, we have no other quality tall forwards.

Almost all the good mid-fielders we have are on the wrong side of 26. It now becomes a priority to add depth to this area, which is bloody hard when you need good picks to pick up quality talls.

The list is completely unbalanced. It'll take at least 3-4 years with top notch balanced recruiting. Given our recent history I have no faith this will happen.

Fair enough but when I said core I was only thinking of a few players such as you mentioned, ie Henderson, Menzel, Zac, Maclean, Simpson, Kreuzer, Carazzo, etc.

Ground Zero to me implies getting rid of 100% of the existing list, which to me is going too far.

would you bring in Voss as an assistant? (if he could work with Malthouse)

not sure I think Brad Green is the right calibre either.

ps agree complete with original poster. First time I actually punched and kicked a chair at the stadium

problem is - that only works if you are following after carlton has used its no 1 pick.

My summary
A club in denial, has been exposed as frauds.

Best thing is that MM is coach this year. If Ratts had of served final year, i think we would have been in a similar position and 'we' and club would have incorrectly blamed Ratts; change coach and be in denial another year.

I @#$%&! hope the club pull their finger out and not expect MM be the saviour. One man aint going to solve our problems.

Time for CFC leadership who believed we would win premierships by 2015, to step aside. They have run their race. We need people who can know how to run a club.
