Stephen Oliver ... we were crying out for a full forward for years and there was always the hope he would step up and decide he wanted to play in big smoke. It wasn't to be ... but I could watch his game against West Coast where he towelled up Jakovich once a week for the restof my life and never get bored!

Paul McCormick was the guy I was going to mention all the way through this thread until keogh took it...I'll mention him anyway. Him and SOS crunched a Bears playerin that Gabba game, may have been Gastev, loved him.

Most of the underrated guys I liked were your hard nuts.

McCormick
Tarczon
Da Rui

Geez, I had big hopes for that bloke. Darren Tarczon.

WHo was the barrell chested bloke in the early 80's who may have played a couple of games, buig build, Des English style.

Currently we have an abundance of non-stars to choose from. Based on endeavour alone, Wiggo would have to be right up there.

So did I. I used to have an edition of Blues News, which back then was a newspaper printed with blue ink, which had a picture of Kouta and Cavedon with their jumpers at the gurnsey presentation night, both just kids with big grins on their faces. They couldn't have had such differing careers as it turned out.

Another Blues News had a photo of Justin Madden shaking a 15 year old Matthew Allan's hand...not sure why.

I loved getting those newspapers. I wish I still had them.

I've got a photo at home somewhere of Kouta and Cavs pissing about after training one night.

Watching Kouta, Cavs and Ange running around in the under 19's I had dreams of a premiership dynasty built around those three.

Cavs slayed the goalkicking in the under 19's if for a year or two if memory serves me correct.

I reckon if either Ditchburn or Oliver had have played for 10 years we would have been looking forward to No.20 not No.17

Totally agree about That game against the Coasters

At the time it looked like Oliver had finally accepted a career in footy and I went to bed dreaming of premierships :?

At that time we had so much key position depth it was ridiculous - I know lists were bigger back then but the 1992-93 list with guys such as Dean, Sexton, Silvagni, Dorotich, Spalding, D Kernahan, S Kernahan, Parker, Welsh AND Oliver was laden with talent and sooooo much better than we have at the moment.

Ahhhhhh, the good old days!

Richard Dennis (tho he WAS a gun).

Kris Massie (thought he'd finally broke through after a goal or two from the midfield in Perth one night game).

Warren Ralph ... didn't really like him that much - only when he kicked a couple of bags.
