I could see them shifting McLean onto the rookie list ala Scotland, and keeping him around that way.

Otherwise the choices are hard...

Robbo - did improve as a footballer this year, but that's not why he might be let go.

Lucas - still young and has some upside, but hasn't come on.

Ellard - disciplined and hard-at-it; a bit of a Malthouse favourite. But he's basically hit his ceiling as a footballer.

I'd keep Ellard and Mclean on minimal wages and a 1 year deal to mentor the young guys in the VFL and fill in where needed in the seniors when injuries occur.

I'd delist Robbo. Flog him hard physically in the meantime with the potential incentive of a Rookie spot IF he gets his shit together and keeps it that way. WE can always elevate him later after he has proven his desire to change his ways and make the most of his opportunities at this great club. If Robbo wants to take his chances elsewhere then let him go for it.

I'd let Lucas go unfortunately. Better to put the time and money into a young bloke who really wants to make the most of an opportunity on our list. It is such a shame that we used such a high pick in drafting him and it is sad that he has not made the most of his opportunities at Carlton.

Currently 35 primary list players.

If Robbo Brock and Lucas go that leaves us with 32.

I'll tip Lucas will survive... leaving us 4 draft picks and TUTT in the psd.

Would prefer it to be Robbo & Ellard for both list structure and quality.

That really surprises me Jimmae

Been impressed with our trading over the last 2 years. No guarantees that all the players will become long term players, but far easier to see the longer term strategy. Really pleased to get 2 young key position players onto the list. (Especially with the loss of Waite.) I think Jaksch is a 'lock' to be a good player. Obviously Jones is more of a risk. But like how we've begun to address one of our obvious list deficiencies over recent years.

Also really pleased we've managed to stay in the first and second round of the draft at the same time, as trading in some young talent.

So just to organise things for myself, (I get confused  )

Six Gone: Duigan, Garlett, Temay, McInnes, Waite, Bootsma.
Three In : Jaksch, Whiley, Jones

At this point we're three players short.

Two draft picks for sure, #19 & #28. {do we have to use three or is that rule just changing three players minimum on your list?}. #61, #65, #101 and #119 also available.

Assuming Robbo's gone for club culture reasons, without considering the PSD for now, that means we'll use #61 and #65. I expect we'll pass on #101 and #119.

At this point the additions/subtractions are in balance.

So that leaves the PSD Vs Lucas, Ellard and Brocky. {Personally I would think Ellard would be safe, but other posters have raised his name}

Anyone know of any interesting PSDs that might slip through to us?

Just three off the list.

Mclean and ellard thanks for your time...
Lucas gets added to the rookie list.
Pick 19 and 28 should bring us quality players...
Happy with jaksch, whiley and jones...
Add cripps and we are starting to look ok for the future...

I think we will keep Lucas and Ellard.

Robbo gone
And I think McLean done in by Whitley trade.

4 picks in ND (19, 28, 61, 65)
Tutt in PSD

I'd get rid of Ellard, but he seems a Malthouse favourite so I'd be surprised if he were not around.

I'd keep Robinson, but I know I'm in the minority there and that it appears unlikely to happen. Forgetting everything else, his football actually improved last season and I think that he is more stupid than mischievous.

Not really sure about Lucas; for all his faults, the team desperately lacks outside run and carry and he can at least provide that. But after only seven games last season, you wouldn't have thought that his prospects look all that bright.

I'd keep Robbo too. Purely to annoy Emma.

Why can't we sign Tutt as a delisted free agent?

Hasn't been delisted. Dogs have offered him a contract.

Robinson's future would really depend on his relationship with his teammates.

If its true the players have had enough of him then he should go.

Mitch Robinson: Ok not the sharpest tool in the shed, but what he does bring is physicality & 100% effort when he plays. Sure he makes mistakes but he has a go & goes in where angels fear to tread. I hope we keep him. We need this type of player who goes in there & gets the hard footy.

Can someone tell Garlett to collect his t and take it to the d's. Or did we hang on to that in the trade?

If my math is correct we've lost 7 primary listed players with Lucas, Robbo and McLean to go. Maybe Ellard also.

We've added KJ and Whiley, with Jones and Tutt committed to.

Rogers has stated 4 picks in the ND plus 1 PSD.

So ... That leaves 1 or 2 senior spots?

Who are we promoting or do we have another trade to come?

a. Carlton.
b. The PSD
c. Changing clubs
d. Grammar classes.

There has been a huge turnover of players on the list over the last 2 years, and there had to be.
For the first time in years i have some confidence that the club is finally moving in the right direction.
MM wont bring us a premiership in his time with Carlton, i hope i am wrong, but he will certainly set up the list and leave it in a much better position than when he arrived.
