Lappin was offered a superior deal to go to Richmond.
He obviously once again sacrificed to stay at Carlton, too bad Campo couldnt follow the lead and think about someone other than himself.

Synbad was correct in his earlier prediction as Lappin was standing his ground and was likely to move on.
Congratulations Matty for sticking with your mates and thanks for the mail Synbad.

Wasn't Setanta getting delisted because he was becoming way too cocky?

Yep, good news.

Will be interested to hear the details in good time, as it seems pleasing to see that the club "had a win", which I assume means Skinny signed on the club's terms.

Lappin has been good for us for a number of years and while his 2005 wasn't his best season, he certainly wasn't Robinson Caruso there.

Good to have a senior player with some history at the club on board.

The first thread says 'will most probably be at another club next season'. Clearly that's hardly an official announcement - simply a statement of probabilities. At that stage, it was probably likely that Lappin was going to walk.

If Synbad posted today that Lappin 'will most probably re-sign for 2 years' then you'd have a point. But it sounds pretty cut and dried to me.

John not that I am questioning Synbad but if you keep making big annoucements often enough you are bound to get one right sooner or later.

Mate you shouldnt doubt stuff just because you get it before its official..
And on the off chance Lappins re signing is official tomorrow.. which isnt Melb cup day.... do you reckon that if i can give that to you 24 hours earlier.. that 2 weeks ago i may have been right on him going to Richmond???After all i didnt say he signed with Richmond just that he would probably go because he was offered 3 years and very good money..

Why am i even justifying myself to you Sydney??? You sponge info you dont offer it...

Great news, thanks Synbad.

I reckon the club is turning things around.

Synbad I live in Sydney in case you haven't noticed , I need to sponge information as I cant get it anywhere else. I dont have access to the earlier addition newspapers or can I hang around the coat tails of someone at the club for any snippet of info that might fall may way. When a poster like you post that Lappin is going two weeks ago I accept it but when you come out two weeks later and say he is staying I question the orginal post. Nothing wrong with that you have been giving it to Bluemark for months now over that stupid post he put up about getting rid of everyone over 25 and then spend the next 200 posts back pedalling away from his comments.

I do sponge info and dont deny it but there is one thing for sure that it has to be a pretty good arguement to get me to change my mind on something.

Would you like me to be like alot of other Sydney posters and claim I 'm in the know would you.

Things can change in 2 weeks, no?

Two weeks ago, I was going to accept a new job offer. True story this one. The offer was on the table and I was to go in for a meeting to discuss terms. The meeting was in St Kilda, other side of town from me, and I had to drive 45 mins more than my usual 10 min commute to get there. It pissed me off no end.

In the end, I decided that this factor alone was a significant differentiator, and i rejected the job, staying close to home for less money but with a comfortable lifestyle that - a couple of weeks back - allowed me to go home and work when the cricket got interesting.

Point? Well most of you probably don't care about my job situation, but the point I'm trying to make is that things can change fairly dramatically in 2 weeks, as parties nut things out. I'm getting tired, but in this case, no yawn is forthcoming.

Thanks for the news Synbad.
