Great news what a deal seeing matty finish his career at our club. A unlikely footballer with that muscular frame of his 8)

The international series proved he still has what it takes goo Capt Skinny

Things can change in 2 weeks, no?

Two weeks ago, I was going to accept a new job offer. True story this one. The offer was on the table and I was to go in for a meeting to discuss terms. The meeting was in St Kilda, other side of town from me, and I had to drive 45 mins more than my usual 10 min commute to get there. It pissed me off no end.

In the end, I decided that this factor alone was a significant differentiator, and i rejected the job, staying close to home for less money but with a comfortable lifestyle that - a couple of weeks back - allowed me to go home and work when the cricket got interesting.

Point? Well most of you probably don't care about my job situation, but the point I'm trying to make is that things can change fairly dramatically in 2 weeks, as parties nut things out. I'm getting tired, but in this case, no yawn is forthcoming.

Thanks for the news Synbad.

All the more reason to wait for an official announcement?

Oh indeed. And just as I was disappointed at the time of reading Synbad's post 2 weeks back, so too am I happy at reading the latest. Live for the now, live for the now.

I don't doubt Synbad's sources on this one, but he doesn't need me blowing smoke up his arse.

Looking forward to it Synbad. Never really doubted you... but can you do me a favour and not call me "Kanckers" in future... it makes my ankles swell.

Synbad, as a rule picks his words pretty carefully, especially when starting a thread (maybe not so much later on  ).

Whenever something is said like 'most probably' for Synbad that is a huge qualification IMO, so when I read it initially I was actually not that worried because it sounded like a little wriggle in the negotiations. If Synbad had said definately, no doubt, etc. then I would get worried.

It is a pretty easy book to read because the language is very direct and easy to understand.

Synbad, consider your arse smokeblown.

Commentary from round one Carlton v Melbourne 2006.

Fifteen seconds to go Carlton are down by five points, Lappin gathers the ball on the wing, kicks to the leading Whitnall at Centre Half Forward. Whitnall looks up ground, kicks short to the leading Fevola, mark Fevola! He's thirty metres out, there's the siren! Fevola steady's, runs in with his new fast run up and kicks....it's a goal!!!! Carlton beat Melbourne!

And won't we all on Talking Carlton be excited and excuding the brilliance of our team for the season ahead, some of us might even dream of a premiership in 2006! I can sense the dew on the grass in early Autumn or maybe it's the irony. :garthp:

I know, as long as they are in a Carlton jumper.

You forgot the bit about Campo watching on from the stands with his new mates Courtney Johns and Damien Peverill.

Seriously guys, this is an Internet community board. It is not the New York Times. Anyone who has spent more than five minutes here knows that Synbad has his finger pretty much on the pulse and like Kenny and a few others is brave enough to post things before they're official. If people want to wait for the official anouncement go to the official website. One of the great things about this site (and its earlier incarnations) is that you are informed ahead of time. Thanks Synbad and hopefully Matty will be Co-Vice Captain next year along with Nick Stevens.
