I've only ever heard good things about Glascott. This is great news.

I used to run against him (years ago now) and met him a couple of times through that. Good bloke, and smart. Just got a bit confused about the Essendon* thing.

Thanks for clearing that up Synbad.

He sounds like the next Murphy, once we secure the next Murphy that is.

Glad to see it looks like a push for seats rather than a full spill. The club needs a spill like a hole in the head at the moment but new blood and a watering down of the original Carlton One ticket can only be a good thing and it was inevitable that there would be moves around now. Any board made up of members of a single ticket is bound to be at least a little myopic and the queries over their direction over the last 12 months were both fair and predictable.

Gleeson's an interesting one. Am I right in thinking he was involved with a pro-Elliott group around the time Carlton One got in? From memory they were forming in the backgound but pulled the pin when the saw which way the wind was blowing. I may have Bear confused with someone else but I think it was him.

Overall it looks like a healthy evolution rather than a revolution and let's hope all involved can make the transition without turning it into a farce and damaging the club. Thanks to Swan and Kenny for setting a fine example.

Look , the other one interested in running is Fraser Brown... doubt he will.. especially after the AFL thing... but he certainly would put sme rockets up bums.. hopefully he has controlled his anger management and his love for the drink... :?
Gleeson was a pro Elliott man.. but he is also a smart and cluey bloke..
The Elliott thing is behind the club and there is alot of coming together.. and so there should be for the good of the club.

Look these pockets arent running as a single group.
There are about 3 splinters running that i know of.

The footballers.
Marcus and running mate
and another.

Im sure there will be others too.

Fraser Brown would sure put the wind up Agro's mate Andy.

My understanding is that there is huge animosity between the two of them on the business front.

I did notice that the little dictator sold a million $'s worth of Baxter stock during the week.

Perhaps it was to fund a very long trip away?

We could only dream!

This member will NEVER vote for an individual who previously backed Elliott to continue his path of destruction. Those individuals obviously had/have other motives for running which don’t include the betterment of CFC.

Caro mentioned on 3AW today that Daniel Grollo was another possibility to perhaps run for the Board....she thought that shifting Collo from the Presidency "would not be an easy task"....(understatement?)

Yeah we should scrap the whole board and replace it with a anarcho-syndicalist collective with a rotating chair

I'm not far away guys will be back in Melbourne on Thursday and will have full access to the internet. Anything that will put the wind up "The Spew" has my blessing.

Look forward to some more regular contributions soon - lack of football news is killing me and internet availability has been scanty.

So look out Demetrispew - I'm coming home soon.

Good to see some people starting to step up. The problem has been all the hard work has been left to to few people. A lot of the hard work has been done but we do need fresh people to finish the job.

As Synners said this not a spill but people seeking to fill vacancies, thus it is a positive sign not a negetative.

Reducing the board numbers however is not practicable and prudent, we could easily end up with a Elliot style administration, although having any more than 11 would make the board unwieldy

There is no problem with reducing the board numbers, provided the processes are in place to ensure open discussion. The problem with the Elliott era was that decisions were made between two or three people, and the rest of the board did what they were told.

Under those circumstances, it doesn't matter whether there are seven or fifty-seven people on the board.

I am thinking more in terms re workload Jack. There is a lot that needs to be done and I reckon spreading the load a little might make it is easier.

Also a Synners and other have hinted at, Collo has been making a lot of unilateral decisions of late and I must admit that worries me a little.

I think we have to move on from the pro Elliott/anti Elliott stuff and get the best candidates into office regardless of the past. I'm not for reducing the board numbers for a variety of reasons, we also need to have a president elect in place to replace Ian Collins when the time comes....and for me it has to be sooner than later...Collins has done a fair job but with his ill health, telstra dome duties he cant handle it all and we need to move to the next phase of rebuilding...

ran into Ginger Gleeson at a function yesterday and advised that his name had come up in dispatches about running for the Board. He looked surprised and said he'd had a phone call to that effect last week and didn't know what was going on.

He denied he was or would be running.

Said he thought you would want to wait a few years yet before getting on board.

and this wont be the first time Gleeson has been interested in a seat on the board..

Probably thinks its abit early to make a run... alot of water to go under the bridge till March...

but he is definitely interested...
