I've messaged every Carlton supporter I know that doesn't have a membership (13 ppl) and told them to buy memberships - if only the 3-game one. Haven't given them my membership ID either because I don't want them to think I'm just trying to save money next year...
IMO the 3-game membership should be pushed harder. It's not a true indication of "serious" support, but it helps bump the numbers up, which gives the appearance of strong support, which helps bump the numbers up, which... you get the point.
Really, anyone who plans to watch 3 games this year should be educated into buying one of these memberships. There is *no* reason for someone who just buys tickets before the game *not* to buy a 3-game membership.
Perhaps a good idea would be to arrange a function for 3-game members *only* to reconnect with the club? The club could come clean and say "we dropped the ball, we miss you, we want you back. Buy a 3-game membership, come to the Collingwood, Essendon** and Richmond home games and get a stamp... and we'll invite you to an exclusive meet and greet with all the players..."
I dunno. I'm not in marketing. The idea needs thought, but we could be doing a lot more.
It's currently $95 for a 3 game membership, which is more than 3 reserved seats at the full rate. You can see why they've effectively changed it to a 4-game membership: we were gouging.
It's still more than a walk-up seat at Etihad, but less than one at the G.
