Had these threads before about the most accurate goalkicker...Ross Ditchburn for me...Warren Ralph had a superb kicking action, ..when the heat was on and you wanted a goal kicked no one better than the Domimator in Wayne Johnston...he was rated highly for his attack on the footy and general play but he was also a wonderful goalkicker under pressure...

Brian Kekovich was a good shot if my boyhood mind rememers well enough.

I remember my brother always saying 'don't worry he doesn't miss'.

Struth - I had seen this post - but just ignored it for a while due to the fact that I expected I'd be repeating about 12 posters ...we did have a bloke called Alex Jesaulenko remember??!!!

My goodness - he could kick them from anywhere and with style - best I've seen in my time...as far as technique...certainly wasn't Ditchburn...Tattslotto Ralph was a beautiful set shot kick for goal.

mark maclure and rod ashman were very accurate shots for goal.

sellers was good for 2 goals a game, no matter how poorly he played. kept presenting, then once given an opportunity would rarely miss the shot for goal

For all round kicking i'd have to say Southby...As a goal kicker style wise Warren Ralph was very very good!

Warren Ralph kicked 9 in his first game for us but....I keep thinking about that shot he had for goal after the siren against Collingwood (?) from 20 yds out almost on the point of the goal square....he missed !....and lost us the game.

There was an almighty blue about it afterwards, as TV footage showed not only supporters milling around him, but opposition players on the mark standing on each other's shoulders.

Normally; he was a beautiful kick for goal and like Fev; preferred to be out a fair way than close in.

There was no doubt that it was a goal out at Waverley.
The goal umpire was known to me and he was a dyed in the wool Collingwood supporter. He never stopped laughing about it for weeks after!

Agree..Greg Williams didnt miss many when he got close to the goals..disagree with Dr Sherrin on Ditchburns kicking style..had a Michael Holding run up but dropped the ball very nicely on the boot and could kick it a mile......

A mate was saying that the Duke was bloody hopeless (and ungainly) kicking for goal in his early days; but improved out of sight towards the end of his career....I have to agree.

Best kick I ever saw in a Carlton jumper was Peter McKenna - most accurate kick for goal I have ever seen.

Half of the blokes you guys are referring to, I wouldn't know from a bar of soap. I need a history lesson.

I remember back in the Braddles days it was just a given that he would turn the ball into gold....he always hit his targets and he always kicked his goals. I just took it for granted

....the good old days :(

When Braddles was running into goal, 40m out, you could pretty much write it down. Bloody joy to watch.

Justin Madden, always would feel safe with ball in his hands inside 50.

diesel, braddles and rats were great kicks in general play and i guess camporeale early in his career had great footskills

Obviously the ones mentioned were all good kicks.

Here's one though that is strange one, whilst he's hardly one of our best kicks for goal of all time, I always feel safe with Barnaby French shooting for goal, maybe it's just me but I reckon he'd be one of our better kicks for goal, doesn't seem to miss! I'm not comparing Barnaby to some of the greats but just saying that without looking up his goals-behinds ratio, every time he has a shot he tends to nail it.

Agree with you on The Dominator, Elwood. He was one of those players you were relieved the ball was in his hands set shot or on the run.
regards Pedro.

Just a ripper player was Wayne Johnston...always was a good kick even at Prahran where he started...amazing player really, he managed to reinvent himself into a different player..went from a flimsy half forward flanker who was a great finisher into a hard nosed onballer who thrived at finals time when the heat was on....I dont think I can remember a player who changed his approach so radically...it would be like Ryan Houlihan reinventing himself and playing like Glen Archer....
