and also Ryan Houlihan. I know he is sorft but when he has the ball and kicks inside 50 he just seems to always find Fev.

:Falls off chair:

moving on....

Deisel was a great kick... very under rated as a kicker.... distance was an issue though, but boy did he pin point them.

Ang was too.... I remember a huge kick at OO from right HBF to left HFF. Wind behind him, but still......

Houlihan :?: I've lost count of his worm burners....

If it was a shot for goal after the siren, there was only one to take the pill.Big Nick. Those floating mongrel punts never missed.

Best kick in Carlton's history was when they kicked Elliot out the door...

On the field, that 81-82 premiership had some magnificent kicks:

Harmesy, Southby, the Dominator, Perovic, and Rod Ashman could also kick it a mile when he got onto the torp.

Probably one of the worst from that era (speaking only from memory) was probably Mike Fitzpatrick who frequently missed goals from less than 30m out.

Rod Austin had the most ungainly kicking style in history but he was pretty accurate with it.

Of the more recent era I reckon Ang Christou hands down, with Fraser Brown for the over the shoulder snap, Braddles for a banana on the boundary, and Ratts from a set shot 40m out. Greg Williams for precision passing.

Earl Spalding for the "cover your eyes until its over" award.

Of the current team, apart from Bryan, I would actually say Barnaby French is the best kick in our side and the bloke I would most back to kick a goal from 50 metres out.

Bradley by a mile.Why
1 Rarely missed a set shot
2 Could find a target from any range in any circumstance
3 Best kick on the run particularly with torps, but with drop punts as well
4 Never lost form with his kicking despite playing for 17 years
5 Was terrific at improvising his kicks depending on the situation. Not just against West Coast with that awesome banana goal, check out the 3rd quarter of the 87 grannie when Braddles kick 2 goals.Just watch the replay
6When we needed a goal Bradley always bobbed up.Handled pressure superbly
7Could kick it a mile if he wanted too.

Bradley I think was actually a touch underrated because of the squib element. When someone yelled out one day your a squib Bradley my reply was simple."yeah mate but he is the best squib ever"I rate him as one if not the best ever player to wear the navy blue.

It isn't Jon Dorotich or David Clarke.

Damian Lang was an incredible shot for goal from an angle. I haven't seen someone slot them like he could since.

Pity he didn't have pace to lead or strength to win a marking contest.

Wayne Harmes I reckon was about the best I have seen for the Blues. I remember late in his career he was playing in the Magoos and fired a 60 pass to a leading Warren MacKenzie. I dont reckon the kick went above about 10 feet in the air and there was a very lound 'thump!' as it cannoned into MacKenzies chest, who seemed fortunate not to be winded as a result. Fantastic kick.

Great post - pj canus... what does your profile name mean by the way?

Post of the week in my books.

Yes, Harmesy was a gem. For sheer power and throttle on the kick, i would give it to harmesy as the best kick at the club.

Robertson for grace and distance.

Yes; Wayne Harmes won the now defunct "SunKick" competition as a teenager before he joined Carlton.
