She reckons CFC did the right thing!
and about Campo
her information is that Essendon* have told him they'll give him 500 - 550per yr for 2 yrs
But
He needs to nominate 350 so thyey can fit him in the cap
tyherefore he'll be on 650 - 700 as a 32 yr old in 2007
good luck to them

If that is true, then Sheedy has well and truly lost the plot.

That is just about the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard.

Was it 550 over 2 years, or 550 times 2 years?

This is not possible - nobody is that stupid :? Does Sheedy think they're close to a top 4 spot?

I suppose he has the same problem we had, and are having, they want to trade for good players, but don't have the currency so they're forced to bring in new young blokes and patch holes with old hacks in the mean time.

All the money in the world can't get the best players across these days.

I would rather pay Bentick and/or Simmo that kind of money rather than that SA trash.

BOMBER for spoon 2006 :-D

and Alvey was unimpressed on SEN a couple of weeks ago. His comments were along the lines of "why chase me when you weren't going to play me?" He was looking forward to going to the SANFL and "enjoying playing footy again".

I don't see how Campo has shafted Carlton. Hasn't he played for 11 seasons, won a B&F and All Australian selection. He's stuck with Carlton through two wooden spoons and hasn't been paid much money while quite a few players get paid a lot of money.

Sheedy has never ever forgiven Carlton for "pinching" Craig Bradley from Essendon*.

That's interesting as Dwayne Russell has mentioned numerous times on 3AW that Campo is going to the Bombers on less money than Carlton offered. Basically he just wanted out and to get away from Pagan.

yeah but in the end they offered him 2 years and we offered him one.. because he was a flower..

he originally knocked back 350k+ x 2 because he wanted 450k x 2
we offered him a one year 300k contract...and wed see about his final year...

Make no mistake.. Campo is a money hungry weasle.. he wanted the 350k+ x 2 back ...

If he didnt like Pagan only and it wasnt about money he should have left while he was on a fat salary...(ie over the last 3 years Denis was there)

Campo is a weak character who is driven by money ...

Remember just before the end of the season he spoke about wanting to be a one club man.....and what a great servant he was to the club blah blah blah blah...

Take what Campo and Essendon* say about his move with a grain of salt. He has an obvious reason to say his move is not about money. He doesn't want to be seen as a mercenary. He wants to be seen as the one-club stalwart who has been forced out.

For both Campo and Essendon*, it would be a PR disaster if he comes in with a high price-tag. There would be dissension among the players, some of whom would no doubt feel that they are underpaid. Remember that Warwick Capper was frozen out by his teammates at Brisbane in similar circumstances. And Campo is reliant on a supply of ball from the ballwinners.

Supporters would then be quick to turn on both Campo and Sheedy if his game doesn't match his pay. I'm sure that some would already doubt the wisdom of recruiting a 30 year old who depends on his pace, and I'm sure there'd be a lot more if the proposed contract is revealed.

Far better for all concerned if he says he wants to join a club and coach he has always admired in Essendon* after fleeing the old enemy because it is a shambles.

And as Synbad says, if Campo felt compelled to leave Carlton because of Pagan, as if he would spend so much time trying to negotiate a new contract.
