Fev will go under the knife tomorrow due to his OP problem, he will have an interrupted pre season until XMAS however he will keep fit by swimming, boxing etc.

Why wasn't he operated on earlier????

I'd probably say he didn't go udner the knife earlier due to his wedding. THis would be the best time for him to go me thinks.

GOod luck to the big shagga, hope he recovers fully and rips 2006 apart

Ahem...yes, you'd think he'd be a bit dirty about having groin surgery just weeks before his honeymoon. Now he's been married for over a month he realises he'll never have sex again so may as well go under the knife.... :P

If this is true, it's just astounding.

The guy was injured from at least the Brisbane game. We were last on the ladder and we were playing an injured Full Forward. Coll & Hawthorn were resting anyone that pulled up sore, and we were playing a guy with OP week after week.

And now he will have an interrupted pre season. I am staggered.

It does defy logic. Maybe the initial assessment presribed rest as the best cure. Then again his honeymoon may have aggravated the problem!!

Well here comes Fevola's 2006 excuse - 'No pre-season'. This will be used to justify another 40 goal season.

Lay off Fev ... he got 49 goals playing with OP in a team that finished last. His two years before that were 50+ efforts - direct the negative crap to some of the other players who haven't delivered anywhere near that output ... plus collected fat pay cheques along the way.

Is that not the problem? this could have been done some time ago without him having to be injured and playing (if that rumour is correct). absolutely worst case outcome to have this happening now.

And your mate Fevola has joined the fat pay cheque team so is now open to criticism.

Totally agree it should have been done earlier but it's not his fault for presenting himself to play.

As for the criticism of the pay cheque, can we at least wait until the season starts before criticising him for the dollars he's on. Who would you rather give the money to ... Camporeale, Wiggins, Sporn???

Brendan Fevola undergoes surgery

Brendan Fevola's pre-Christmas training schedule will be restricted following surgery on his groin today. Brendan will be on a modified training program until Christmas and is expected to resume full training when the players return to training following their Christmas break.

"The injury did not respond to rest and treatment as well as we hoped and while surgery is a last resort, it was decided it was in Brendan's best interests to undergo the surgery to repair the injury and having the procedure completed now should ensure that he is ready to resume full training in January," said Grant Williams, Carlton's General Manager Football Operations.

I am surprised they waited so long. Now it will affect his season (i.e. due to late start training wise).
