Being at the match today it was hard to come to any other conclusion than that Mick has lost the players. When the bottom placed, winless Lions are killing us for run and spread it's hard to come to any other conclusion, our players by and large just weren't working hard enough. Time after time when a Carlton player had the ball there was just no movement, just no one to kick to. We lack a class big defender (no secret there), our forward structure is just hopeless.

Every game I go to I come away frustrated with Murphy. The guy just won't work hard enough when we don't have the ball, how he was made captain is beyond me.

Gibbs is just cruising. Possibly just seeing out his new contract?

Wood is a spud, thrashed in the ruck after half time. If there's no other alternative play Warnock, at least he's half decent in ruck contests, and there's bugger all difference in the amount of possessions they gather.

Thomas looks to be one of the bigger recruitment blunders our club has made. Big dollars to a crock who is way past his best, thanks Mick.

When I got home my wife who had watched the match on tv said "what a shocking standard match that was, and that guy Jones is terrible ". Couldn't diagree.

Said it yesterday. Lions should've been favourites.

Our forwardline is actually the stuff of nightmares. Not the opposition's. Our's.

Should be able to screw a team now & get a good out of contract player in the psd now though.

My god we are ****. I sort of wish I was young enough to not care like I was in the early 2000s.

in other news. how bad is Jones?

he's actually worse than watson. and that blows my mind.

I fell off his wagon today.

Good luck to him.

Can't blame service upfield today.

He showed his stuff.

+ 1

Yes it's a deeper problem than just the coach, but at $1m per annum I want to see more

Malthouse is showing what type of a coach he is by continously playing Jones and not playing others who have deserved a go ie. Watson or even dropping others like Casboult before this guy.
Huge mistake trading for him and giving a top 50 pick away but even a bigger mistake being stubborn and keeping him in the side.

Just on selections, why was Buckley subbed and even more importantly why didn't Graham play 4 quarters and Smith 1st sub? Just doesn't make sense. Let's hope we can convince players such as Henderson, Buckley, etc. that MM is not the future and we do not lose anymore quality.

Bucks was having his back worked on most of the 3rd quarter so I wouldn't be surprised if he's injured.

I watched the quarter time huddle. Mick went out and went to town on Buckley.

He was furious with him.

I really dont mind the loss. I saw it as getting games into kids. That is what rebuilds are all about and that is what we applauded when the rebuild was announced. If we can get some good development ala the dogs under Macca for the rest of the year then we are at least heading in the right direction.

I am gutted the club didnt smash the list up after 2012. We could have got picks for players we lost for nothing. We could have got picks for players that were not gelling together. We chose to blame 2012 on the coach and got a new coach in by popular demand and he didnt even show up to trade week. Started talking flags instead.

Lost years.

We should've traded heavily after 2012 & got a new coach. But not Malthouse.

Someone needs to go for their marks in the backline
Something like 6 intercept marks for us against 20 for Brisbane
Rowe has no confidence to go for the mark when in front - he did this last year and beat players like Roughy
Makes a big difference if you get the ball back instead of punching over the line or back in to play - I am sure we are the worst at this in the league, just never get a chance to reset
FFS when Hendo comes back put him at CHB at least he will go for intercept marks

It's hard to take intercept marks when you're turning the ball over in between the arcs and you're left one out with your opponent consistently.

Stuff like that comes with a more settled system of play, something we lack right now.

Long time lurker and very occasional poster...

Mick has to go this week... 20 year member but my interest in the club is seriously waning... The longer he stays, the more damage he is doing to the club.

Bye Mick, enjoy your cups of tea at home sitting under your 2 metre x 2 metre portrait of yourself...

Murphy, Gibbs and Walker had 4 Disposals between then in the last 1/4............Wow

Please tell me you are joking??
We were joking about this during the game.
I'm having a real hard time seeing the ways MM has improved what happens on the field.

One minute mark: "I've always thought they were a very good football side - they've been on the wrong end of some losses this year..."
