Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is John Rombotis and I haved play for Belgrave in the Belgrave Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League, Division One for the past few years. You might remember me from my short stints at Fitzroy, Richmond and Port Adelaide. I have worked hard each day to get my body right for my comeback to AFL football and being only 29 years old, i still think i have plenty to offer the Carlton Football Club. The salary I am looking for would be somewhere in the range of $200-300,000 annually, so as you can see i would fit in easily to the salary cap. Other than playing football I also offer other services. Some I will have to speak to you in person about, but the ones' that I can disclose include the following:

1) Taking the Blokes out for a drink after a good win.
2) Speaking to the younger blokes about goal-setting and what it means to win.
3) Running the water, if the runners get tired.

Obviously I can work with the coaching staff as to what is most paramount in preparation for next season, but I would think that my decisions would be respected given my great experience in the field.
Finally, In regards to us taking the next step, I am prepared to take the big roles such as a Rover, tagging the likes of Luke Power and Paul Licuria. Also I am prepared to give Bryan and French a spell on the bench as I can play tall enough to pinch hit in the ruck.

I will go to the AFL Store tommorow morning and pick up my Carlton Gear.

Look Forward to hearing from you,

Jonathan Rombotis (27573634)

There are some scary coincidences going on here guys. :?

I bought an old copy of the Encyclopedia of Australian Footballers last year and it was signed inside by James Wynd and Darren Wheildon who both played for Fitzroy.

The scariest part of this however is that just like John Rombotis - they were shit too...

Belgrave huh !

Pretty sure I did some pre-season training with him at Roxburgh Park. Him being the playing coach.

Even freakier - I once went out with a chick who used to tell guys she was going out with Darren Wheildon just after they'd finished her history essays...

I don't know where you get off saying John Rombotis and Jimmy Wynd were 'shit'....Jimmy Wynd was a great little player, very courageous as was Rombotis. Doc Wheildon was a little like Angwin. Full of talent, but just didn't want it bad enough. All were pretty talented footballers. I'm not sure why you are targeting Fitzroy players? I believe that the Fitzroy team of 1996 would give the Carlton team of 2005/06 a very good run for their money! That's right - we're that bad! And I think you addressed that in your post!

Please remember that Fitzroy was raped by clubs such as Richmond who just kept stealing talent and for many years offered players more money so that Fitzroy had to offer more in which to keep them. You guys are obviously too young to remember that Fitzroy for many years was a great team...but wedged in between Carlton and Collingwood geographically - it was always going to be tough.

extremely well said bro.....i think its one of the saddest things to ever happen in my life, seeing fitzroy fold.....and even sadder, sitting behind a dad and his ?10 year old son, and hearing them talk about old school football, the father saying "oh, he (alistair lynch) started at fitzroy" and then hearing the young boy reply "who are fitzroy?"

sad. sad indeed.

i dont care what anyone says, brisbane lions are the brisbane bears with a new name and jumper, the elements of fitzroy arent there, never will be there, yeah, richmond may have raped fitzroy, but brisbane married her, took her home, beat the will and life out of her, put her in the corner, and then forgot about her when he made it big.

I do apologize.

An off the cuff attempt that could have been anything and which may have been more clear if the tone of the thread had been noted.

I should have said "The scariest part of this however is that just like John Rombotis - they both masturbated left handed!"
