The club is also in no rush to give Curnow another contract. Armfield might walk if a club offers him a better offer.

Thoughts on Charlie Curnow?

Apparently cleared of serious damage to his knee; no bone chips, no ligament damage - just some bruising.

He's 190+, looks pretty strong already, comes from a basketball background (seems to have helped Pendelbury always appear to have so much time with the ball), can run all day like Ed...

Imagine a big body like him running around in the midfield alongside Crippa, also resting forward!

If the draft year is as shallow as the media pundits are reporting then it may be worth retaining a bloke like Giles and giving him an extra year to get over his foot. No point freeing up spots on the list if the talent pool we would be drafting from is lower than the folks being moved on

Really depends on us "engineering" a third pick pick in the top 20 (other than the two by virtue of ladder position). If we do trade a high profile player (e.g. Hendo to Geelong) we might get a pick in the low teens and might snag him.

Picking up Weitering/Schache/Weiderman, Curnow and SOSOS and still having a third round pick to play with would be a fantastic outcome.

I rate him very highly. Trade Henderson for pick 8 for example and imagine having Cripps, C.Curnow & Francis along side Murphy, Gibbs, Graham as our midfield.

Curnow with our "Hendo" pick (8-10).
SOSOS for our pick 19-21 (assuming that's as high as another team bids for him).

Maybe I'm misinterpreting, but it seems to me a few posters are pretty keen on trading Henderson for an early pick. He's 26 at the end of the year and played a 100 games. IMO he's our best KKP. He has exhibited no off field behavioural problems whatsoever, (or on field for that matter - no sulking, suspensions etc).

WTF would we want to trade him?

I think sometimes people get carried away with the idea of the "pot of gold" that, (probably), exists in each draft and forget just how many picks yield very average players, or even don't work out at all.

Not for me at this stage. We need elite mids (ball users/decision makers) and mid depth before anything else. It will also depend upon what SOS sees coming through in the next 2 years. Our defensive stocks are fine. Like the Bulldogs did, when you are nearly ready go out and buy that one player that fills a void.

Perfect world get 3 picks inside Yop 10 and get Schache.

Also, may well be able to get someone like Harry McKay at pick 30 ish?

I think Henderson has been giving out a little vibe that he could be thinking about leaving... which obviously starts to influence people's thinking/planning.

I'd like to keep Hendo if the price is fair.

Fair enough, too. I do agree that we need another tall/big inside midfielder in the mould of Cripps, and for mine at this stage (though highly speculative) that's Curnow.

Out of interest psych, how do you see us getting 3 picks in the top 10?...

Also, BigKev, I don't think any of us really want to see Lachie leave (I think he's a ripping guy, and a solid contributor) but either he's "checked out" already (few ppl think his demenour post game suggests he has) or he's being looked at by SOS as a player we can easily move on to Geelong for a top 10 pick and ease the pressure on our TPP (which are maxed out atm as far as I can tell). You're right, not all picks work out, but top 10 picks are far more likely to work out and the more we have the better. Any player over 25 will be lucky to be around when we're next challenging (4 years or so, IF our picks come good and development is on point).

We'd have to trade Henderson and some one like Yarran or Menzel which I don't see happening, but I would seriously consider doing it. I have heard comments about it being a weak draft but I believe the top 10-15 are as good as any and given our position, 3 early picks could really make a difference to our list.

Schache & Weitering could easily go to CGS & the Lions. We could then get Francis, Curnow, Mathieson then maybe McKay at 20ish. That would be a very successful draft.

Judd took a big haircut a few years ago, and i guess his impact is minimized by being a veteran. So who is left that is causing all these problems.?

Could it be players like warnock? Carazzo? If so wouldnt the problem be fixed at years end?
