Thought The Doc was very good today. Is he a chance for the B&F? A pretty good recruit this fella.

i think that was closer to a 10 goal win than the score suggests ...

they had at least 4-5 goals from very very soft free kicks, and we missed a stack of easy opportunities ...

all in all, it was good to go to a game, expect a win, and win comfortably. actually cant remember the last time we won two in a row!! looking forward to next week and see how we go. Whilst im not that impressed with the bulldogs (I think the draw is skewing the ladder and the actual quality of each side) but none the less they are in a better place than us so a good test.

I reckon Bell would be leading our B&F by a fair way at this stage.
He was playing well when most of the team were really struggling.
Murphy starting to make a run in recent weeks.

White is not good enough to play in a preliminary final. Needs to be replaced if we are to become a top 4 side

I reckon I could find quite a few players considered "not good enough" for semis, prelims and GF's who did end up playing them.

Shit, the losing Saints GF sides had about 5 in each of them.

Perhaps I should have added 'for now'. :P

Depends who was voting early in the year.

If MM was then Daisy is probably still leading.

White is not up to it, a bit of Cannon fodder that's about all, Rowe is not the most skilled athlete, plays on tram tracks, Ellard...? No.

Curnow, ok, just.

Bring Jammo back in, keep rolling a few youngsters through............ looking alright, can't wait to play the big boys again!

Getting rid of Judd has helped, undefeated since we got rid of that dead weight..... :garthp:

Charlie Dixon doesn't go off and we would gave really struggled to win that game.

Rowe just wouldn't have been able to withstand all that "body rattling".

Gold Coast had stopped running off half back and overlapping well before Dixon went off. It helped, but we still would have won comfortably.

Interesting to read how GC were undermanned and poor performers.
This is the team who went down by 7 points to the top side last game. They played average footy today because they couldn't get the ball. Our stoppage work was excellent again and our ball movement is improving by the week.
Dont underestimate the improvement. We have always had the capability to win the ball, finally we are playing a game style that gives us more opportunity to retain it.

Yeah, and we were playing full strength as well.

Wait until we get Juddy back!!!

UNSTOPPABLE!

Good! Why would we touch Carlisle until the WADA outcome is known? Pass.

recruit Dixon, keep Hendo and put him at CHB ...

wowee ... its a massive structural change for the old dark

Buckley - Jamieson - Docherty
Yarren - Henderson - Thouy
Simpson - Cripps - Bell
Menzel - Dixon - Everitt
Armfield - Casbolt - ???
Kruzer, Murphy, Gibbs

followers Wood, Graham, ??, ??

Let Jaksch, Silvagni develop into either a CHB or FB, let the kids develop ... I want our side to get to the point where a 1st season player gets a taste, but isn't required for 2 to 3 seasons so they can develop into men a.k.a. Sydney model, so when they do hit the seniors, they hit the seniors seamlessly.

I've got cripps up by a similar margin.

Not only that, but they (I can't remember where i heard it) went through his stats as a forward, things like contests won, contests split, contests lost, score involvements, ability to gather the ball below his knees, a whole range of stats and he was below any one who played that position and also below almost everybody with similar experience. His output, apart from a good half season when juiced, is exceptionally ordinary.

Agree with most of the comments in here.

- Loved seeing Cripps overcome a tag - great learning experience for him (although he wasn't exactly facing the top tagger in the league). Will be interesting to see what happens if Picken plays in a tagging role next week.

- Murphy looked like he really enjoyed the freedom.

- I also thought that Carrots made a fantastic contribution in the middle - but the tempo of the game was definitely too much for him when in possession. Should be very serviceable for the rest of the year, but could be a good time to go out on his own terms.

- Bell was fantastic.
- Graham was ok.

- Holman did some very nice small things here and there... wait and see until he gets tested with a full game against a tough team.

- Docherty was everywhere, and looked very comfortable in the midfield, but his use of the ball was horrific.

- Curnow is allright - gradually maturing into more than a run-with player. Will never be the best midfielder, but definitely underrated by a lot of people on this site.

- All the talls were good - can't see how anyone would be forced out by Jones or Watson.

- The backline looked very shaky, though. Rowe had atrocious disposal. White looked like he was playing at his limit. We definitely need Jamo back in against the tall sides - GC forward line was a very different beast to Port last week. Lynch and Dixon won't be going anywhere.
I hope Jaksch can step up because against the good teams we will be under the pump.

- May is the one player from GC that I'd love to have - very solid unit.
And Kolodjashnij - just goes about his business.

- Overall it was a nice win, hopefully it banished some of the mental demons, and it should see us safe from the spoon, but it was very average opposition at times. Irrespective of injuries, they were playing some horrible football in certain patches, and we should have put them away by a lot more. A lot of our goalkicking was miserable, and the umpiring didn't help.

I don't think you can read a great deal into that game.
I'll be much more interested to see how we go against the dogs.
If Boyd, Stringer and Crameri all play ... we will be tested.

Disagree with Doc's ball use. Sometimes stats are deceiving, but I wouldn't call a d/e at 83% as horrific.

Picken is playing as a ball winning midfielder so won't go to Cripps. Raines is not the best tagger in the league, but in the modern game would be one of the least interested in winning his own ball. 6 disposals, and 6 frees against at nearly full time showed what his main motive was.

Viney, Weller, Guthrie are a few that he may face for the rest of the year. Obviously no Crowley at Freo, and Langford can't get a regular game at Hawthorn.
