So Eddie's mate reckons Jezza's mark is not the best in today's Australian.

All summed up in the last paragraph as he states he wakes up in a cold sweat reliving the losses of 1991, 2002 & 2003.

"Jesaulenko you beauty" - as long as football is played this will be THE Grand Final Mark of all time.

No amount of Grand Final sour grapes from grumpy trousers Mick Malthouse will ever change that.

What about cold sweats from Collingwood too about 1970-1979 and 1981?

Who beat them in those GF's?

Never has the MCG recreated such magical moment nor game for that matter.
Words cannot express the atmosphere.
Jezza rose gracefully and majestically amongst the joy and tears a tribute of this great game.
The Collingwood supporters were just stunned.
Ciao

Time will be the decision maker, not a failed Magpie coach. Somehow I don't think "Jesaulenko, you beauty" will ever be bettered. ;)

Somehow "Leo, you Barry" doesn't have the same ring to it.

Jesalenko's mark was better, but in the context of the game i agree with Malthouse. The Mark saved the match for Sydney, where Jesalenko's mark although more spectacular abd beautifully announced my Mike williamson, it had no real bearing on the result.

We can never know that....we were being walloped in a Grand Final, and against all the odds; we got up to win.

Jezza's mark was absolutely inspirational....not only to the crowd; but to the Carlton team.

Warby, the article was written on the 26th of September - two days after the GF! Malthouse was probably still running around saying "Did ya see that?!" like the rest of us were in the week following the game

Whether people will still be saying the same thing in 35 years time will be the test.

Yep; realise that and agree with you.

Barry's mark was sensational in the context of the game; but Jezza's mark is and always will be iconic.

Barrys mark was a good mark but plenty of good footballers could have taken that mark....how many could have got off the ground and done what Jezza did ?...Malthouse should be thinking about what he is going to do in retirement rather than pontificating over which mark is better....its funny when you hear these journeymen coaches come out with rubbish like this...surely his focus should be on Collingwood and trying to get them up the ladder....looks like another coach with a early case of football dementia.

Jezza turned the game

and that kick was fgoing to be marked by the Sydney player behind barry

so jezza's by a mile

and I am unbiased in this assessment because I do not barrack for Richmond, coach Collingwood and have a soft spot for Sheedy.

Had Barry taken that mark in the first 1/2 of the game instead of the last couple of minutes it wouldn't have made the highlights.

Yeah; but he did virtually seal a Premiership with that mark....no doubt.

If he hadn't marked it the Swans would've lost?
Doubtful.

That's the general consensus of most of the Swans, supporters, and the general football public....they did label him with the "HERO" tag.

But it's all conjecture isn't it ? No one will ever know....or could know.

It's like the Collingwood supporters who still bleat about Piggy Harmes swipe being over the line, and how they MAY have still got up to win.

Yeah right....
