Provided as much as hendo has all year and more than Jones. Persist. We have nothing else

he doesn't get sustained game time at senior level and until he does he will always struggle to adapt
he has deficiencies but he rarely gets a comprehensive beating
we need to give him most of the year in the seniors to prove himself
personally I would like to see him more and give him another year but he needs to be played at the top level

Jim Buckley had a good game today, he looks a bit different to how I remember him

Our true test will be in 2-3 years not in 2 weeks time, poor comment, which is expected!

Fantastic game from Kreuzer. Nice to see he's got over his goalkicking yips in recent weeks.
Another fantastic game from Cripps. Clutch goal in the last.
Buckley was good.
Some promising signs from Boekhorst and Whiley and Jaksch.
Great that GC won last night, and meant I could enjoy the win without feeling conflicted.

Rare for Blues to win, but for filth and scum to also lose, and for Roosters to win, well... :smoking:

Bang! Cripps wins rising star!

Some of his hard-ball gets were top echelon, top-class. It was like Kouta all over again. To be the starting point for a chain of possessions when being tackled by 2-3 blokes and still be able to get the handball out demonstrates a rare skill set.

If Cripps doesn't win the Rising Star now you can pretty much guarantee that the voting system is flawed.

Nice to see Wayne Carey - an ex-forward - say that centre half-forward is the hardest position on the ground. Hogan seemed to play a lot at full-forward from what I could see anyway. The game has changed since the 1990s Wayne. It all starts with hard-ball gets in the midfield. The game is more about the midfield than any time before.
Cripps is the ultimate extractor.

Say what you like about Watson, would rather have him in the side than sookie Hendo. He has some passion and even when dropped to the ressies, still holds his head high and doesn't sulk.

I hope we re contract him for another 12 months.

Bang on drew girl

Menzel was awful today. Little or no pace, no tank, little creativity.

Not sure how the club has allowed him to slip that far behind

Menzel stuffed his shoulder again and did well enough to stay on the park. Give him a full preseason and see what he does.

Hasn't he had some preseasons?

His shoulder may have limited creativity today, but he was easily ran past and around today.

Players who show promise:
Tutt - does enough to be given game time next year.
Jaksch- good in the air...kicking decision making ...interesting, but could improve with game time.
Menzel - good pressure. shows some signs.

I can't read too much into the game as it really was poor standard with little defensive pressure especially in the first half. Ball use was poor.

Positives were Kruezer, Cripps & Buckley and seeing players give an effort. Prefer that to a Yarran or Henderson jogging around. Everitt needs a kick in the arse as he really picks and chooses when to go.

I thought it was a great chance for Jaksch, Menzel, Whiley & Dick to step up and show something against a weak opposition and they were mostly disappointing. Dick & Tutt aren't anywhere near AFL standard. Boekhurst looks good but needs to get fit.

On a side note Jeremy Howe was doing his best Henderson impression out there. Looks like he is leaving the Demons based on that effort.

I thought Jaksch did quite well. Whiley and Dick are battlers and their output was about what you would expect.

Whiley????
You have to be kidding!!!
The kid was EVERYWHERE today, at just about all cntests, in and under handballs, making space, tapping to someone in a better position, jumping 3rd man.
This kid will be a gun, yes I said 'gun' in about 3-4 years time.
There is a little bit Fyffe in him.
Ridicule me till your heart's content. Watch him over the next few years (at Carlton)

I liked Whiley too.

I reckon he's the kind of player who needs his 50 games before he's comfortable.

I'm a Whiley fan. Think he could be okay just thought he had a chance to stand up today. Worked hard but made some absolute clangers as well. I agree he needs more experience. He will need to step up next two weeks with Murphy missing. Could be good for him.
