McKay's right.

We do want to keep Kreuz.

....for half the value of what other clubs are asking.

Just like we wanted to keep Waite and Betts.

I just don't understand the 're-sign Kreuzer if we don't get pick 2' mentality. We would likely need to sign him to four years and (possibly) more money than we're currently prepared to offer. @#$%&! that.

I hope McKay and SOS aren't worried about the backlash from the blue rinse set if they let Kreuz go.

My thought is they're saying the right things to the media to keep Kreuzers value at its highest.

taking into account we're going to get an excellent pick for him, kruez isn't worth big money on lots of years for where we're at as a team list.

They haven't had anyone to throw their undies at since Kernahan left the board.

Hopefully those blue rinse Cougars will have their attention diverted with that nice clean cut Patrick Cripps.

Yeah
And so they can be blameless when he goes.
Geez..we really wanted to keep him,
But....
Now that we can get picks 1& 2
I'm resigned to losing him
It's pretty much a game changer.

That's my take on it too. Trying to limit the supporter and member backlash by putting it back on Kreuzer. Which, at the end of the day, is his decision.
Imagine the backlash if we dont get pick 2.

If our administration has a clue it's an "era changer".

.....and making it look to the AFL like we are losing someone we would rather keep. Keeps it all above board and as it should be if you want compo. If clubs start looking like they are cashing in on a dodgy system the AFL well get all gnarly and get to making rules up on the run AGAIN !

It doesnt help our cause when the HUN have already written an article saying that Carlton must help Kreuzer find a new home.

At the end of the day with Krezuer you can argue it both ways.

He is a no.1 draft pick and has played some fine footy along the way, but, he has also had major injuries.

I can see an argument for having it as he could very well come good and play great footy for 5 years, but I can also see the argument for getting rid of him.

He is probably more of a risk for us than another club given we haven't had the return on investment we would have thought we would have had when we drafted him.

He has played decent footy this year, quite good actually, and is injury free now, so probably is seen as less of a risk for a rival club.

That's how I would be selling it if quized by the AFL.

The AFL won't want picks 1 and 2 going to Carlton. So they will come to us with a sneaky deal. Sign up Kreuzer for 3 years and more money and we'll make some side payment to pay off your debt. I can just see it happening.

My personal preference is I would like to keep Kreuzer. He is one player that will lead others at the club. Picks 1 and 2 would be mighty handy though.

I was listening to SEN and Brett Anderson was discussing various trades. He says that Treloar will go to Collingwood with their first pick and Witts, Kreuzer to Collingwood and thinks they will also get Aish.
We, on the other hand will probably come away from the trade period with nothing.

I can't even comprehend the cheek he's got to be shopping himself around to begin with. Taken at #1 eight years ago? Hasn't even played 200 games, yet we've stuck with him through and through and he hesitates to sign with us?

All this BS talk about what a terrific young man he is? He can't even display fkn loyalty to a club that stuck with him season after season whilst he gave us nothing in return.

And now he wants a better deal?

What an arsehole!

I want to know why he did an interview back in July saying he loved the club and he would never leave or talk to other clubs.
Now he is looking elsewhere. I wonder if the club has forced this or has anything else happened.

How do you know the push to have him find a new home isn't coming from the club so we can get band 1 compensation?

Calling him an arsehole is pretty average to be honest.
