If it is reported in the paper that Whitnall is 108kg...most on here will be asking WTF is the journalist on???

Absolutely everyone who has been to training, who has posted on here, would refute that suggestion completely, as total and utter rubbish.

There hasn't been one report at all of an out of condition Whitnall on TC to date. 10kg overweight would've raised more than one or two eyebrows.

Indeed, BV's report suggested he looked even more mobile than ever.

And, no-one is able to answer how his long distance endurance this preseason compares to last...if he is 10kg heavier he must be a minute or two slower, right? I'd hazard a guess he improved his time trial this year compared to last...or was, at the very worst, very close behind...but it's easy (as I just did) to make crap up and expect everyone to believe it.

How about if he turns out to be in great shape and looking fantastic? A bit of praise from you, something nice to say....wouldn't be your style now would it?

thats ok he has made enough money out of the sport to have someone wipe it off for him....

I wouldnt worry about Lance...

Hes only concern should be to help the kids become better footballers... if he cvan do that noone will show any animosity towards him...
Hes ripped us off.. so hes still ahead so far.. i reckon...

Like if you can take a couple of million dollars for doing nothing but you get spat at youd probably do it too...
I know you would verbs....

I think the "weight" of this forum has definitely crushed the validity of this thread.

Good to see.

It's the whole back page of the Herald Sun....slow news week?

Report has Stevo showing a paunch too according to a team mate (?)

It says Lance was seen to "struggle" during the recent time trial around PP....doesn't he always?

So lets get this right (having just read the article):

The club sends me my membership renewal on Monday, and in Tuesdays paper I am reading that my money will go towards paying Lance at 108 kg and Stevens who is looking a bit "paunch".

No worries, just want to hear from the following people:

- Lance himself
- Lance's manager
- Pagan
- Malouf
- Collo

Could we please have some answers, I love the club and want too take my membership no matter what, but I want some answers, this is a f*&*&^% joke, especially when in one page an article appears on our beloved Marc Murphy.

Surely we are entitled too some answers.

i actually heard this on the radio (IN CANBERRA!) on the way to work this morning, and i couldn't believe my ears.

they said "and some times bigger is not better, AFL club Carlton are furious that forward Lance Whitnall has returned to pre season training at 108kgs, about 8 kgs over his playing weight"
or something like that.

i thought thats sounds strange as there has been no mention of this in the recent training reports

I'll preface this by saying that I have not seen him yet, so I can't judge...a bit like a Herald Sun journalist really.8)

I will hopefully see for myself on Friday, but until then I will take these guys words for it. IIRC, one of them has been quite hard on Lance in recent memory, so if he is happy with him...???

When Lance is carrying weight his movements are sluggish and his second efforts are poor. There's no sign of that and he seems to be enjoying his footy.

Perhaps we could set this like boxing, and have Lance on the scales in his dacks flexing his biceps before each training.

I know I'd watch that

It would seem that Synbad now writes for the Herald Sun.

You can just about pencil in a 'fat Lance' story about this time every year. Last year it just made better copy to go with the romantic, 'Lance spends the off-season dragging tyres around the paddock with his father' version. Then again, why didn't he do the same this year?

I'd prefer to trust those who attend training (and seemingly have him in pretty good shape), although I will be curious to watch future reports as no doubt Lance's weight will be one of the first items addressed from the agenda.

Didnt mention Lance in training report yesterday but didnt look to me to be 108 kgs - is doing all the work required and some more running to ensure that he gets to his playing weight and stay there.
Lets not believe all thats in the papers or the radio as last week Caroline Wilson was telling people on the radio last that Carlton were thrilled about Lances performance in the time trial and he beat Nick Stevens home in the trial and were expecting a big season out of Lance.Co incidentally she hadnt been to training and I suspect this joker from the herald sun hasnt either
Slow news day and I wonder if it had of been closer in tasmania whether this would be on the back page
Having said that agree Lance has to be showing leadership to the young group given his new contract the age demographic of our list and the fact that french lappin whitnall stevens are now the senior leadership group and at a bottom side this is all important the standards they set
