Lennon and third rounder my arse. That's theft!

Why would we rookie Jones? Maybe it gives him his two years, and the club gets a cheaper contract?

Yarran has 100 games to his name and has proven he can tear the opposition apart. A third round pick is not part of the equation if I'm SOS.

Yazz might have shown more than Lennon so far, but Lennon is only a second year player. He's not going to out perform a 100 game Yarran just yet.

"But as McClure revealed on Sports Today, Carlton could potentially delist Jones and then re-draft him as a rookie in a move that would lessen the impact on the club's salary cap.

"I've checked with the AFL - if that were to happen - his payments for the remaining years of his contract would be outside the TPP (total player payments), unless he is upgraded during the year," Scoop said on 3AW."

Sets an interesting precedent should the wheels really fall off with a certain #23 in Sydney..

Yarran is under contract to us next year. Lennon is out of contract. We have first pick in the PSD. We hold a strong hand here. We must maximise our return. I honestly don't think a straight swap of Yarran for #13 is unreasonable in the circumstances.

Give us 13 or get stuffed!

They'll be desperate after another finals flop.

Don't like this ... their second rounder (pick 31) is steak knives.

A trade like this doesn't set us to the path we need to go on.

I doubt very much that Trigg will accept anything that doesn't get us their pick 13. If we are looking at a combination that softens them giving up pick 13 and us gaining a player ready to ripen then a win/win for me is Yarran and our pick 19 for Lennon and their pick 13.

I am very confident that we will get pick 9 for Henderson so this could see us with picks 1, 9 and 13 plus Lennon.

Well Lennon was pick 12 a few years ago. He is no dud.

Put yourself in Richmond's shoes. They use their 1st pick on Lennon for a reason and put 2 years into him. He has shown plenty of promise in his first few years It's a big deal for them to give him up. Personally, I don't see why Rich would give up a player for Yarran, they should use picks. Isn't the whole point to add to their depth and not lose quality young players in the process? Bad decision by them. Lennon is no Collins.

FWIW my wife taught him at Layola and can't speak highly enough of his character and indeed his whole family. Lovely down to earth people.

Well the question is, is Lennon > than pick 13 in this years draft? Let SOS and co work that out and act accordingly.

Why does it have to be a choice between #13 & Lennon? Play this right and we could end up with both.....

I think you can only be unrealistic for so long in such a short time frame to trade. We don't want to be like Dodoro from Ess* where it becomes impossible to negotiate. Sure we should start at pick 13 and Lennon but if we can get Lennon and a 2nd rounder for Yarran and our 3rd rounder (not worth much this year) we should be pretty happy. Perhaps that 2nd rounder becomes what we use for Plowman. Yarran and a 3rd rounder for Lennon and Plowman would be fair and a win.

Let's play hard but fair and not slow the process.

Maybe I am just lowering my expectations so I am not disappointed or maybe I am pretty close?

Yarran is worth a 1st rd pick, so why settle for less? He's contracted.

That's what I'm alluding to. We know Yarran's first gear, Lennon is still speculative without form anywhere near that level.

Spot on. They want us to release a 100 gamer that is contracted then they need to pay up and they know that. Giving them back our pick 19 and them giving us Lennon means that in the equation all we have to weigh up is whether Lennon is better for us than who we rate at 19 in this draft.

If the Tigers rated Lennon highly I doubt they'd be willing to let him go.
Pick #13 or bust.
