Don't mind that at all, we'll be a lock for one next year if our year is even remotely close to this year

For which is my expectation, can't see us getting out of bottom 3

How about we don't recruit players who can't get games at their current club. We want to get better, not more mediocre.

Anyone know if SOS is both head recruiter and list manager?

Yeah, I agree. The idea is to eventually (big task, I know) get as good, if not better, than the opposition... not simply be better than we are. We have only so many spots available on the list and certainly not an inexhaustible access to ways of improving it. We get the rhetoric but early evidence suggests we don't even understand it ourselves.

I guess the question is whether these guys will be better than those that will be available for our later picks this year. I'd imagine SOS would know better than anyone.

I think if we aren't ravaged by injury we'll actually show considerable onfield improvement with a new coach.
No pp next year.

As much as I don't want to lose Bell, if he needs to go home for genuine personal reasons, I'd be OK with Brisbane's 2nd round pick (#20). It's overs for the Lions perhaps, but you get that with contracted players.

What about josh green and Rohan Berwick for bell? Green a good forward pocket and Berwick handy half forward? We are not going to get pick 20

Quote:
CARLTON will not get an ideal Weitering-Schache package at the draft after its request for a priority pick was rejected by the AFL, but it is still set to lock away its long-term bookends.

The Blues are poised to take 195cm defender Jacob Weitering with pick one at the draft and will target 21-year-old GWS backman Lachie Plowman via a trade.

The 192cm Plowman is one of four GWS youngsters that has been tipped to arrive at Princes Park during next month’s exchange period, joining midfielder Liam Sumner, forward Jed Lamb and ruckman Andrew Phillips.

Blues list chief Stephen Silvagni, who spent four years at the Giants, is central to the club’s plans to secure the quartet.

He is an admirer of Plowman and recruited Lamb from Sydney in the 2013 pre-season draft.

However, Carlton’s head of football Andrew McKay poured cold water on reports the Blues could land all four players for a second-round pick, telling SEN: “Don’t believe everything you read.”

But it’s strongly tipped that a deal for the four Giants players will go through relatively early in the trade period.

“We’re interested in many players and obviously GWS has got some good players there,” McKay continued.

“We’d be silly if we didn’t have a brief look at their list and see if we can do something with those guys.”

Plowman has played only 20 games since being taken with pick three at the 2012 national draft, of which only two came in 2015.

Sumner, another top 10 pick, has managed just 12 games, while Phillips and Lamb have featured only 24 times for the Giants between them.

Meanwhile, Carlton is still hoping to stockpile draft picks this off-season and will aim to secure first-round selections for Lachie Henderson and Chris Yarran.

But the Blues will not trade highly rated forward Troy Menzel.

High picks for Henderson and Yarran could see Carlton land up to four top 20 picks at the draft, but the club may anticipate complications with both trades.

Geelong may be forced to use its first pick on Patrick Dangerfield, rather than Henderson, while Richmond could be reluctant to part with its first selection given Yarran’s waning form.

Good question.

I'd ask at what cost to start with.

At bare minimum he's good depth, IMO much more valuable than a Tutt Jones type.

But...do we need him...I don't know.

Thats a concern..the article says SOS recruited him from the Swans in 2013 and here we are heading into 2016 and he hasnt exactly set the world on fire at GWS.
I know I always used to buy Ronaldinho as soon as I started a new game of Champ Manager 2003, but Lamb doesnt look like becoming a Ronnie

With the Pooper Scoopers record in the pre trade period Bell will be going to the GC
Don't understand why Brisbane would not transfer him for Aish

He comes with a great reference from Sam Kekovich.
