I hear Jeannie barracked for Carlton all the way through her stint at the calder cannons.

Why doesn't she barrack for us any more?

Didn't get on with MM and hated it when he continually made her sub.

She'd be pretty used to being sub, wouldn't she?

Years ago...back when Carlton was Carlton - there would have been many voices saying "Not without a vote"...but now there's silence. There's little more than an apathetic wimper from the folk that pay for the privilege of membership, yet for the past decade have had little say in who controls their club. Even the President was 'placed' onto the board. Didn't have to earn a vote. No pitch of ideas and direction. No introduction.

Collectively, the Carlton faithful spend hours criticizing the likes of Richmond and Essendon*, but at least their elections follow something resembling a democratic model.

If members are, as the CEO rightly states, the lifeblood of a football club - why are Carlton's treated with contempt? Why is the constitution being changed to suit the suits?

We'll spend much of this week focusing on fixing on-field Carlton. But you can't fix Carlton with the current administration. The inevitable AFL handout is coming. Like it or not, it's the only thing that will keep Carlton alive.

Synbad is busy getting dressed. Apparently someone laughed at him walking around naked everywhere with a crown on his head.

Alas...no. It's been a good year off - but being away from forum world suits me more than I thought. I have changed my views on many things while away. I now believe that the football club should be planning to play games at Princes Park again in the future. Mosquito Fleet will be happy!

However to do so, the board needs to sell its soul to the AFL. And by soul - I mean the lease. With 19 years to run. The current board would never do that. Not in a million years. And by a million years, I mean the next five - which is make or break for this football club - not that the current President agrees with that sentiment. He and his coterie cronies are still hanging onto the notion that Carlton is a 'big 4' club. The reality is that the club is a bees dick away from being an AFL controlled entity. Kinda like North Melbourne - even though North Melbourne would never admit it.

Steven Trigg is trying hard. I hope that's going to be enough. But I still find it strange that Carlton doesn't communicate with lapsed members. It's downright bizarre. They've lost an amazing amount of people and have put it down to natural churn! That's on the CEO. Whether they come back or not is another thing - but it doesn't cost much to try.

Maybe a Chinese sponsor could help with membership? One with global reach? It's all about networking after all... I wish them well in their endeavors.
