It may only be November, and the source may only be the Herald Sun, but the club haven't exactly come out and denied it have they??? If there was no truth whatsoever to the rumour, and he was only one or two kilos over, surely the club or Lance would come out and deny it?

But we've heard nothing, not even a whimper.

And if it was another player, alot of people wouldn't be getting as worked up about it. But it's not, it's Lance. He does have weight problems. He does need to monitor himself ALL year round. He does need to be in "peak" condition because his body is slower than his mind. He can't avoid that, he's not in the same category as most other "athletes".

So if there's a scerrick of truth to this rumour, it really is a disgrace.

Carlton supporters turning a blind eye to unprofessionalism :(

I'm turning a blind eye to lazy f*ckbag journalists who make shit up.

I'll take the word of our esteemed training reporters over the word of some nuff nuff at the hun.

When the likes of BV, who has criticised Lance in the past, defends him, then that means more to me than some cock at the hun who has to beef up a slow news day.

Don't believe everything you read people.

How many AFL players actually turn up to pre-season training exactly on their playing weight and with perfect skin-fold tests?

If Lance doesn't produce on the field when it counts, then I'll start to question his commitment. But for now, let him get on with training and getting himself into the correct condition.

I think 2-3kg over is fair enough but 8-9kg is just not good enough for a so called professional athlete who is meant to be on 400K. Not sure how anyone can stick up for fatboy. He should know better than turn up to pre season a BLUBBERing mess.

This is f*cked. THE ONLY SOURCE WE HAVE FOR LANCE BEING 8KG'S OVER IS THE HERALD F*CKING SUN!!!!

It's f*cking November, when he goes off at quarter time of the forst wiz cup game hyperventilating then declare open season.

Carlton should come out and deny it if it's not true then. I think Pagan refused to comment which is pretty much saying Whitnall's put the weight on. He has a history of this so it's not like a huge shock or anything.

What do you want the club to do?
Jump up and down in an Eddie McGuire-like fashion? Gawd I hope not.

If we mention anything about this article, even a whimper, we will be giving it a credibility that it simply doesn't deserve.

Denial = validation. It's as simple as that.

Yeah. Just like when clubs come out and say "the coach has the full backing of the board" after there's some sacking speculation.

That always confirms for me that the coach's position is safe :garthp:

Nothing much to it. A couple of shots of training. Some of Lance riding a bike on Royal Parade. Pagan dodged the questions about Lance and focussed on the upcoming draft. Reporter said that Stevens was showing no signs of being overweight and McLaren's shoulder has been given the all clear by his surgeon. Pictures of Stevens training didn't show any extra kilos, but it was only a quick showing.

Interesting. Let us know if there is any footage of the aforementioned 'behemoth'

Christi looking good and just dropped the news that Phil Matera is set to announce his retirement. If you get a chance to see the pictures of golfer Mark Hensby walking with his girlfriend you should make the effort.

So the Stevens part of the HUN article has been exposed as bullshit. What's the bet that the Lance bit is too.

I just saw them.

How about Appleby talking about Carlton players spraining their ankles and making the back page of the newspaper?

Nick Stevens was just interviewed on 3AW and stated the following:

He was 3-4 kg above his playing weight at the start of pre season due to finishing the previous season with groin soreness and not being able to run.

Lance Whitnall this year beat his time trial time of last year when he was reported as being super fit.

Nick would donate his entire seasons salary to charity if Lance weighed in at 108kg.

Mrs Caz will be shattered if Lance isn't 108kg. She's been visiting the Lindt web site for ideas.

Regards Cazzesman

Assuming Stevo's assertion are dinkum and not spin manufactured by the club, is it not time for detractors on here and Hun reporters to visit the taxidermist ?
