Shakespeare? Good to hear we have some cultured and literate people running the club.

Jenkins needs to be based in Canberra for this role, I assume

Other directors like Germinder and Farouh left as the Club recently stated they had their own businesses to attend to.

Do people now think her appointment to the Club is good for Carlton?

If she can fulfill her role then there's no issue.

I recently attended a 2 hour seminar in relation to VEOHRC. Kate spoke for the majority of the program. Extremely articulate in her presentation and obviously very knowledgeable. Really impressed me when taking questions from the audience. Handled some curly questions with ease. Didn't trot out the standard beige political answers but appeared to answer in a very honest and thoughtful manner.

I can see her being a huge asset to the CFC Board.

We know your position as you have stated above

She replaced Directors Lee mid year without a direct members vote as stated by the club

My own opinion whilst human rights are essential - they are not essential core business for a club with a wooden spoon, 3 financial losses in 4 years with a 6 million debt.

We need directors that work hard long hours (like Maquire at Collingwood) to get us out the 20 year mess we are in. Canberra based is not a good look.

I would have preferred a Carltonian member to get on the Board...but that rarely happens apart from the Judge.

She'll still be Melbourne based. And she's got more strings to her bow than many already there.

Exactly Mr Mosquito. Look at that bludger Kochie. He's run Port into the ground with his being based 1500km away in Sydney. Just a disgrace.

she just stated then on abc radio in response to a question from Faine that she hadn't considered her Carlton Board role when she decided to take the commonwealth role

shes a federal bureaucrat - essentially Canberra based. if she is based in Melbourne, she wil on planes most of the time.

of course Jenkins has strings to her bow - she would not have got the role - the question is- is the role good for Carlton in our present financial and football position? I think not.

What about her connections through her women in business group? What about the club's % of female members which the lowest in the league? What about her not being a nepotistic appointment? What about the opportunity she now has bring in Canberra to meet and influence decision makers that may affect us? What about a female leader of the club (instead of Jeannie) as we try to get one of the women league franchisees?

The club constitution allows for board members to join meetings remotely IIRC.

Match attendance aside, her board duties only require a few hours a month, so regardless of her circumstances she should be able to make it work.

This is where it becomes intellectually conflicted - a women director is not going to attract women who support clubs other than carlton to become new carlton members

I think the carltons womens league will be a financial drag on our 6 mill debt - the womens league is a reaction to the successful soccer womens league

we attract women members because we win premierships

She has a wealth of experience that can be injected into how the club is directed.

They could literally spend an hour a week just asking her questions and she'd improve the place. The idea that her physical presence at networking events matters is an antiquated view, especially when she could be talking up our organisation to people in Canberra and international guests of great repute.

Her work at the club is largely cerebral and flows from her everyday work, so unless she's tapped out of ideas for the club or passion for the role, or the board really are backward idiots, she'll stay on.
