I heard today the AFL are concerned if Carlton don't do well this year ie. finish bottom 2 with less than 4 or 5 wins, they might have to trigger the PP pick. To top it off they are seriously concerned it will affect the druggies rebuild. I nearly threw a tantrum ...... how far will this organisation go to 'not help' us?

Source?

wait until the druggies get first round compo (i.e. pick 2/3) for hooker and no one bat an eye lid compared to the meltdown when there was speculation kreuz would get us pick 2

One priority pick...people in the media carry on as if one priority pick will change the world. It makes somewhere between 0 and 5% difference if the rest of your team is shite.

The draft really is largely a lottery (how else can you explain Geelong getting Chapman at pick 30 whatever, or Hawthorn's Breust being on the rookie draft etc etc etc...or in the NFL the best player of all time Tom Brady going at pick 199...to know which kids are going to "make it" really is often a gamble with some hope/research. Some gambles work, some don't.)

How about the AFL gives Carlton $30 million as compensation for the gifts that Hawthorn got. Or $10 million for all the backhand deals given to North Melbourne.

Start handing over some money for starters...but they want Carlton on a drip feed whilst they pump money into what they think are more needy clubs such as North, Port etc.

It would be 1-2 or 1 and 3 or 4 (ish), Essendon* aren't getting a PP.

Pav there was talk of them getting band 1 compo for Hooker. Hopefully if they do its at the end of rd 1.

AFL will be applying the Frawley rules to any FA departure from Essendon*, rest assured.

On to Friday, I'm looking forward to this. shouls be a strong team and hopefully the reduced rotations in weeks 1&2 will start paying some dividends now the H&A rules are in place. Shame about McKay.

Haven't even played the third practice match and we're already speculating about a priority pick.

if the afl is concerned they should:

1,. return all the 2 years of draft pick losses for 2003 and 2004 in 2017 Draft
2. build princes park to a 50,000 unitary seating world class facility at their cost
3. Pay back the AFL fines we were hit with in 2003 with commercial compound interest.
3. apologize on National TV for destroying our Club that has never recovered

Excited to see the team list (today, yes?). This will be I think very close to the round 1 team.

As an aside will they be still in high training mode or will they will be tapering down by now?

The Sydney Swans have made only one change to the squad for Friday's final NAB Challenge clash against Carlton.

Speedy midfielder Jack Hiscox has been named for the clash at Etihad Stadium while Jordan Dawson, Aliir Aliir and Xavier Richards were left out of the reduced 26-man list.

Hiscox hasn't played in the Swans' previous two matches of the NAB Challenge.

Veteran defender Ted Richards, who was touch and go in the lead up to team selection, has been left out.

He joins Jarrad McVeigh, Ben McGlynn, Sam Reid and Gary Rohan as the experienced Swans to not feature at all this NAB Challenge campaign.

The final team and the three emergencies will be finalised an hour before the first bounce, which is scheduled for 5.50pm AEDST.

Carlton will be boosted by the inclusion of experienced players, including Matthew Kreuzer, reigning club champion Patrick Cripps, Dale Thomas and Andrew Walker, who all make their way into the side.

Skipper Marc Murphy, who is back to full training after recovering from a shoulder injury, will miss Friday night’s match, but is on track to play in Round 1 against the Tigers.

Carlton’s Head of Football Andrew McKay says the Club has taken a “conservative approach” with the captain.

“While Marc is back to full contact training, it was a line-ball decision on whether to play him on Friday night," McKay said.

“We’ve taken the conservative approach, Marc will get a heavy load of training in over the coming days to ensure his progress for the season opener in two weeks remains on track.”
