I maintain he's being played wrong, and coached worse. At the extreme end of things, watch how NicNat spreads from the stoppage:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnZggNZjXQUBasically, he doesn't. He also regularly goes back and just sits in front of the defence or plonks himself in attack near the goal square. It's very old school in many ways, but there is a deliberate conservation of effort going on there for two reasons:
1. He's playing at an extremely heavy weight that's not conducive to gut running
2. With his explosive power both on the ground and aerially, if his judgement of the flight is solid he often doesn't need to run around manically to generate stoppage spread or win the ball.
Kreuzer is a different breed, but he needs to learn a little from this and maybe pace himself through a game. He's got vastly more gut running ability, but he's going from arc to arc and killing himself. He needs to get the tap to create spread, or bullock in combination with Cripps once he's back on the deck to quickly release the football.
The more effective he gets at this, the less time he's spending at maximal effort. From there, the coaches need to work with him to determine the areas of the ground he should be most frequenting and for how long.
I don't expect him to be NicNat, but there's a lot to learn from the way he's playing right now that he can adopt into his own game style. Phillips can sit in the reserves and Levi can be our Lycett/Hale.
