Hi posters

For those who don't know me I'm in the lucky position of being a Contributor to the official club site, and occasionally I get to talk to Carlton players in interviews for the main board. The Club is arranging some time for me to talk to the new recruits on the phone - and I need some help with questions that you would like answered. The regulars are:

* What did you do on draft day?
* Outline of previous footy career - positions played etc?
* How did Carlton approach you before the draft?
* How are they finding the Club? Leaders at training - that sort of stuff.

Today is Bower - any specific questions? Questions for any others?

Do they know their numbers yet? yes or no, no need to tell.

Also, do they get told by the club about the history of their particular 'number' at the club?

Is there anything you have learnt about Carlton since joining that you weren't aware of beforehand that surprised you?

I'm really interested in the personal qualities because it seems this group were recruiteed as much on that as anything.

Also, rather than their expectations more on realistic goals they will set themselves for the first year.

Role models / mentors at the club that they've found.

Programs outside of footy - school, uni; personal development etc.

Good on ya Molsey.

What do they view as their strengths and weaknesses?

What position would they ideally like to make theirs?

Question for Bower aka 'Aloisi'

How do you feel when you scored the winning penalty that put Australia through to the World Cup?

for the interstaters, "how have you found the move away from home"

"who are you going to be living/boarding with, and how is that going"

for all

"what are your personal hopes/goals for the 2006 season"

How would they know?
There are plenty of short, fat, ugly blokes around the club
The Ghost could be any one of them.

MM - How do you feel about the pressure of being the number 1 draft pick?

JK/PB - Has playing against each other at junior level allowed you to get a bit of an understanding of the other that might help you on the field?

JE - What advice have your previous generations given you with regards to a football career?

All - How do you feel to be drafted by Carlton?

Does Bower see himself as holding down a KP in defence in the future or moving to another part of the ground?

What current day AFL player does he compare himself to in terms of playing style ... or who he would like to model his game after?

Thanks for your help. Let me tell you - Bower is as keen as mustard to make an impression. He reckons he's got another 2 cms of growth in him, and reckons Kennedy is better than Dowler... anyway, your questions answered:

bmz - 47!
JC - No, Aloisi is the nickname as pointed out by Vintage
Matador - Sees himself as a CHB but loves a run on the wing. Used to play CHF until the Under 16 championships, and then was pushed back to defence and has been there ever since.
He has modelled himself on Stewart Loewe, ex-St Kilda.
halford - Yep, reckons Kennedy is always presenting and has great marking / hands. Rates him the best he's ever played on.
Barnesy - sorry, didnt ask about forums. He's an 18 year old now on $50,000 a year so maybe he's out with the ladies? Dunno.
DB - No, never heard of the Ghost and doesn't want to hear about him. Ever.
Synbad - target is 1 game next year. Was a great answer as he then added 'When I play that 1 game, my target is to make the next game, and the next game' Chill up the spine!
bluhammer - Yes. Particularly those who can dance.
gez - moving in with Kennedy in the new year. Currentlyliving with Kennedy's Grandma!
BV - He sees CHB as his target. Loves the spot.
Deano - No, nothing. Said he didnt know what to expect, but is enjoying it.
Shag - to paraphrase he thinks his running ability from the back half will add an attacking element to our defence.

he told me what no. he was wearing but not sure if i'm allowed to say - checking with the Club.

Great questions guys, please keep them coming. Dannyboy am trying to arrange a time for us all to do some together?

When we play Essendon* can you please lay out Camporeale for us!!!

What's the best thing so far (2 weeks in) about being an AFL player!!

Have any of the established players taken an interest in helping you so far and if so, who!!

1st imprerssion, who is the funniest player amongst the group.

Who did you barrack for before being drafted!

Have you met Peter Dean yet?? (He epitomises what we, the fans expect of our defenders in terms of commitment, loyalty and endeavour (it'd be nice if you could add a shade of SOS's freakishness in there too)). Take a leaf out of Deano's book and you will have 30-40,000 people in the stands backing you up every time you take the ground.

Thanks Molsey. A great effort and isnt it refreshing to hear from kids who havent been "media trained" yet.
They are honest and forthcoming.
