We shoulda had a hard tag on Rance from the first bounce.

Would've loved Jones to be that person and tackle him a few times, get a free for HTB and not only shut rance but also kick 2-3 goals himself...winning us the game

Apologies...just allowing myself to dream a little

Rance getting pinged for HTB. That's a good one

Jones would be in our top 5 players again today. That's a plus.

Bolts was outcoached tonight.
The ins were very ordinary although Graham was easily the best of them.

The scoreboard flattered us in the end. Should have been a 60 point loss.

On the positive side, I think that's the best game Cripps has played for a while. He and Martin two young bulls best on the ground for their respective teams. I liked that Cripps went forward and had some shots for goal including that great one on one mark against Martin who doesn't lose many of those.
C. Curnow another tease. He is going to be a superstar.

Houli will go but he had a good game and is one of the best kicks in the comp.

Haven't read the other posts yet, but I think a pretty good summary.

Perhaps this is the flat patch we were due to have, including the coach.

I hope our depth is better than what appeared to be the case today.

Yep. I'm amazed they didn't try to take Gibbs down for injuring Barlow's glass leg last week.

And Greg Baum, the reason Carlton fans didn't boo Houli much is that most of us were probably watching the play at the time and they never replayed (of course) the pretty much off-the-ball incident, not because we couldn't be bothered booing. (Bullsh*t) artistic licence, Greggie.

No Rowe, ASOS or Williamson in defence and no Cunners or Fish in the middle. At this stage of our build, a few injuries will hurt us more than other clubs. We will go back to the draft this year to build depth.

Got smashed in the "post Cripps" clearance contests today. Once the ball was in the open we were hopeless. Pickett, SPS, Graham, Smedts were MIA. Not sure what has happened to SPS, and as he is 18yo no dramas, but he would not be getting a game if not for his prior form and future prospects. I don't think Pickett will make it......does not get enough ball at AFL level and he ain't a kid no more. Sad because he is very fast, but that's about it.

Backline held up well again, and Tractor was superb yet again. Cripps is a freak but needs some mates.

There is a lot to like going forward. Richmond are at least a year ahead of us and their trades last season for running mids was a great move. That's what we have to learn from as well.

This is key. Tonight again highlighted our need for extra class and grunt in the midfield, and why we need to leave no stone unturned for Hopper and Kelly.

Great call D. We sadly lack in the midfield depth area.......and either of those guys plus a top mid in this year's draft will help that. This draft has to be all about mids. Harry and Kerr will help address our fwd stocks next year and we can go for KPFs in the 2018 Super Draft.

Until we learn to deliver inside 50, kick more goals, and set up better on the rebound, we're not moving anywhere for a little while.

pretty much

According to AFL journo logic, we probably didn't boo Houli because we aren't racist.

Now that's interesting. I *did* boo him but I followed up by explaining very loudly to people around me that it was because of what he did and not who he is.

I and the entire section I was in didn't boo him because we didn't see it and they never replay those incidents on the big screen. It was very late in the game before somebody watched it online and explained it.

Nah, he had plenty of opportunity to go back if he needed to but he misread it completely. You can't pin that one on Gibbs.

Yep. Pickett had his chance but didn't seize the moment. Unfortunately he froze up and butchered the play in the worst possible way.

I hope he has a massive pre season and eats plenty of raw red meat and comes back thinking he belongs. He looks too shy out there.

This.
He is absolutely a confidence player and hasn't had much at either level all year. Hopefully the footy falls his way a bit more and he builds a foundation of belief. He can definitely make it.

I'm over carrying duds like BB and Graham, who've both had ample chances to make it.
Their time is up at the end of the year.
Pickett only on his 6th AFL game with a limited pre season. Give the kid a break.

Agreed but not much else in the cupboard to run with this week. SOS is slowly moving these types out with each draft cycle.

I'm pretty keen to see the replay of this. I recall Pickett at full stretch with the ball a foot above his hands, not through his fingers as the commentators called it.

I'm happy to be wrong here...hope you are as well.

He does play a bit reserved, on that I'll 100% agree.

Boeky, smedts and graham were all terrible, and a significant downgrade on fisher, cuningham and Williamson, which is both an indictment on those coming in and a compliment for the new guys who are out injured.

Boeky is too soft and doesn't work hard enough, and even when he does isn't that damaging.

Smedts is just a nothing player. Was a salary dump so not too concerned

Graham tries hard but is really just a ooor mans Brock McLean

When being tacked, how long is Dusty allowed to take to either dispose the ball or break the tackle?

Like the time he was spun 720 degrees in a tackle, put the ball on the ground, then spun another 90 degrees and finally handballed it off....
