That 'we was robbed' thread is making me a bit

So to get a bit :-D let's revisit some of our great close wins over the years...

I'll get the ball rolling with Rd 3, 1993. The week after Sticks' out on the full against the scum, he kicks the winning goal in a belter against the Hawks. The scenes post match when he was mobbed approaching the players' race will live with me forever. Stephen Kernahan raising his fist & shouting triumphantly to the Heatley. Then a carload of blokes going down Mcpherson St singing

Who kicked the winning goal?
Kerna, Kerna
Who kicked the winning goal,
Stephen Kernahan!!

Your favorites?

Let's see which unoriginal bastard is first to nominate the 99 prelim

the last Optus game vs Collingwood.... would have liked the margin to be greater, but a good win none-the-less

Getting up over Freo at Subi, round 1.....ummmmmm 2001? 2000? 1999?

A one pointer...

OK, Freo are shite, but from memory it was never going to be an easy task to go there round 1 and take a win.

1979 I dont think I need to be more specific.

Anygame where we beat Coll or Ess by 1 pt after coming from behind does it for me.

I can recall a few one point wins over the Eagles, there was one in Perth where I think Mainwaring had the chance to win the game but he hit the post. There was another one at Princes Park where Kouta went mad and took 18 marks or something.

Another great win was that game against the Crows in 2004 where Fev kicked that amazing goal from the boundary line. I actually went over to Adelaide for that game.... it was awesome!

:Unoriginal bastard:

What about Rd 3 2003 against Essendon* where no-one expected us to win at all? That one was pretty sweet. :-D And for Sheedy it was all about revenge for :Unorginal bastard: and he still lost! Muwahahahaha...

1970? 1968? They were pretty bloody awesome close wins too. :-D

We've had a lot of close wins Vs Essendon* over recent years. I think the games in 2001, the first without SOS, Bradley and Kouta is a standout. Who will ever forget Lappin's 60m torpedo goal with no one inside 50m

There was a game against the crows at Footy park very early 90's in the wet - we weren't expected to win, and just got over the line

Look it doesn’t compare with the prelim but that night game against Richmond when Lappin took that fantastic mark in the last quarter was pretty bloody exhilarating. We had so many close losses and even though it was only Richmond and we were pretty much as bad as each other it still was pretty sweet.

Vs Geelong at Optus in 1995 - 3 point winners - decided deep into time on!!! That & the WCE 1 pointer in Round 21 really set up the flag for that year.

Probably the best game of footy I've attended, except for the '79 GF.

2002 vs Western Bulldogs.

(I was REALLY drunk at this game)

I think we had a shit hot 1st qtr and we kicked something like 9.2.
Ended up winning by 2pts.

Vs Adelaide in Adelaide 2004. The worst 1st quarter on record with the whole team only having 29 possessions for the quarter. Fev going ape droppings in the second half and putting us in front with "that" goal from outside 50 on the boundary. Still could have lost but Johncock stuffed up his last shot.

I got really drunk at Marquee after that game. We were calling in for a couple of drinks because my brother had to work the next day...messy!!

We talked to some old guy at the ground after the game, about the team. Then he told us that he still likes Aaron Hamill and refused to express any anger at his leaving.

I walked off in disgust...he was a nice guy until then.

I am more than happy to be unoriginal....99 prelim is and I reckon will always be the greatest game I have ever been to.....A massive rollercoaster of emotion all day....going from not being expected to win, to being up at half time and planning getting in queue for GF tickets, to being absolutely guttered at 3/4 time and then clawing back in the last quarter.....My brother and I were both crying as the siren sounded and the drinking session that nigth was a ripper.....still gives me goose bumps thinking about it and watching it
