Over this shit.

I was prepared to give Bolton a pass based on last year's injuries, but this year there is no excuse, and this had to happen unfortunately.

We'll never know all of the machinations behind closed doors, but if this doesn't light a fire under the collective arse of our playing group I don't know what will.

Good luck Bolts, and sorry it couldn't work out. Hopefully you'll get to see this team you've nurtured rise to the top one day.

I feel sad that it’s come to this. Have been a big believer in Bolts and was convinced he was moving this club in the right direction.

The past 18 mths have been challenging and I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. But sadly, somethings not quite right and things have to change.

I think he’s been a fantastic role model for our youngsters. Maybe that wasn’t allowing him to be as authoritative as he should.

Let’s hope we get someone that can move this club forward, and start developing our players and get us excited once again.

Jeebus knows we could all do with that.

It's interesting, because one of the knocks on Buckley was that he didn't know his players personally, supposedly addressed it, and it led to a better relationships. Hardwick seems like another one of the boys at Richmond. Fine line.

Class act Brendon Bolton.

Not sure what they hope to gain from appointing Teague for the remainder of the season - I personally don't think he's up to it, but he's an interim and nothing more and that's being made very clear. I do hope they put games into the likes of Cottrell and Polson and allow these boys to play their natural game (which is why they were recruited in the first place).

So...onto 2020...which will be the next time I attend a game!

Dear Donstuie,

The Club met with Brendon Bolton this morning where he was informed that a change in the senior coaching position was in the best interests of the Carlton Football Club.

Poor on-field performances and results over a sustained period of time have reached the point where the Club was left with no choice but to make the difficult decision it has today.

Quite simply the lack of wins has fallen short of what our football club expects at this stage of its development. There was an expectation this season that we would start to see the benefits of that development however to this point that has not occurred to the level we expected and Carlton cannot afford to sit back and wait any longer.

While winning does not solely rely on one individual, the ultimate accountability sits with the senior coach.

Brendon has been an outstanding person for our football Club over the last three-and-a-half seasons.

There is no question he gave his heart and soul to the Navy Blue during that time. His care and commitment to Carlton is a testament to Brendon’s qualities not only as a coach but as a person.

We do have a responsibility to our members, fans and all stakeholders to do everything we can to improve on-field performance.

Assistant coach David Teague will take on the role of caretaker coach for the remainder of the 2019 season.

The Club will commence its search for a new senior coach, which will be done with a focus of continuing the progression of the Club’s overall strategy.

Having acquired four years’ worth of elite draft talent, development of that talent must now translate into significant on-field improvement and winning for the Carlton Football Club.

To be clear, our strategy does not change. Today is a measured step we needed to take as a football club in order to keep moving forward and will allow us to build on the work done over recent seasons.

While decisions such as today’s are difficult, they are necessary so that we can continue to progress towards our ultimate goal of winning premierships for our football club.

Regards,

Mark LoGiudice

Compare BB's exit to MM's.

And if we finish the year with only one win ?

Was it the coach or do we have a players culture issue ?

That Essendon* delivered the coup de grace makes it all the more galling.

Doesn't bother me tbh. I'm actually grateful for it.

Well that was as dignified an exit speech as you will ever see.

It's a board decision. If they needed Liddle to tell them what they needed to do, they should resign en bloc

And if anyone has doubts about Cain Liddle. Today should dispel them. Ultra impressive.

Meanwhile, MlG could barely string three words together. I know for absolute fact he's better when the cameras are off (his family were in business for many years with my old-man's family... and he does know how to get deals done)... but sweet merciful crap, get him some media training or get him (read: keep him) away from the lens.

Mitch McGovern stays on the line against GC and we kick those goals in the last qtr against the Hawks and Bolton may have been allowed to stick around. Ifs and buts. Winning is all that matters.

Maybe those two losses have saved us a lot of wasted time.

Think it’s the right call though. We have stagnated .... while coming last.

I don’t think this is all doom and gloom, I’ll try and be half glass full (as a surprise to many here) and say that this has the potential to be like the Brendan Macartney / Luke Beveridge transition at the Western Bulldogs.

Character was not the knock on Bolton. Gave his all. Did not work

If nothing else, we have really improved at sacking coaches. This was done pretty well.

Life as a Carlton Member.

We could add it to the job description. You’ll hate coaching us, but when we sack you it will be all class.
