Before Bolton was appointed, the club articulated its desire for a young coach who can grow with the list.

We may have found it right under our noses.
- Teague is a Carlton man through and through
- He has form in taking average lists to grand finals in state leagues
- He played the game at the highest level
- His brand of football is uncomplicated, and will stand up in finals
- He's done his apprenticeships at various AFL clubs
- He has proven his ability to make decisive (and match-winning) in-game changes. (Bolton's biggest weakness).

Still a lot of games to be played, and a few very winnable ones over the next month.

We could do far worse than bring a mentor in for Teague. Maybe we should focus on getting a good team around him and cultivating a path for him.

I agree. He's not there yet, but signs are good that he has the ability to coach at this level. I wouldn't be opposed to a 1 year deal, but no to Roos, IMO.

A 1 year deal is way too distracting, to everybody, IMO.

Yeah probably. It would just be interesting to see if this current form is a sugar fix or if Teague is really getting the best out of the group.

We should have a pretty good idea by the end of the year....
I think he's already shown it's more than just a sugar hit....although, perhaps our expectations of game day coaching were ridiculously low.

Go Blues

One year for Teague could be the elusive win-win we've been seeking all this time.
Where will Clarko be at in 12 months?

I just heard Paul Roos on the couch completely talk his own book re the Carlton coaching position.
We should steer very clear of this.
Impossible to separate the advice from the interests behind it.
Not impressed.

I agree, it was very clear to see, and he was wearing that navy blue shirt again as well.

I disagree in that I don't believe he's angling for a role. But I know I'd prefer him on the selection panel than any of the others. Would prefer Dunstall too. There's no way LoGiudice should be a part of this decision.

Logudice will only go for a coach, that won’t interfere with the List Manager.

Roos was disgraceful, all over the shop. We can't take Teague because we've been down that path but we can't go the experienced veteran path either.
Does he think before he talks?

Well yeah
Think, I mean...
1.5 mill
So
Depends if
Yeah, if you have money
Or
So completely different story
Because
Look
Advisory role
1.4 should cover it
I mean
I can help
Sure
Look game day
But I can do
You know
1.5 mill.

As a club we still need to follow the process. Because as history has proven, (with the exception of a couple) we have more chance of getting it wrong by just appointing Teague in this "honeymoon" period.
As conveniently pointed out in this article this morning;

https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-07-02/ ... be-careful

It's not to say Teague isn't our man, but historically it is more likely that the change was made for instant wins, morale and membership sales (and we did trade our 1st pick away too). The question is and in Teague's own words when the "I'm just having fun" stops and it's time to get serious about a finals push, does his style, game plan, tactics and ability get us there?

This is why the club still needs to follow the process and not make an emotional knee jerk decision because everyone is having fun, that doesn't win premierships.
