As a member who lives in Tassie and doesn't get to see the game live too often, I have to ask those of you fortunate to go what you think of the crowd reaction to the team this year? From appearances on tv the fans have really taken to the lads in this side - the singing of the song after the siren, and the laps of honour, high fiving players as they walk through the tunnel. On the tv the atmosphere looks better than it ever has. Maybe a quiet confidence, and a hope for where this side is going, as well as an acknowledgement that this is a team which we are building to be great? Seems to me that the fans really have found a bunch of players that they can just get passionate about. Is that what the feeling is like at the ground? And how does it compare overall with the passion we have shown on the terraces for previous sides (for example '95)?

I can't tell you about the crowd as such, living in Sydney and all, but I think what I feel is probably fairly indicative of others.
I'm proud that the boys fight all the way through a match, like they haven't since the turn of the century. The way I see the crowds reacting is one of pride in the way a group of guys who had been written off as "rag-tag" and "rejects" have rejuvenated the club is incredible, and I feel a great sense of pride when the guys come out to play.
In 95, there was a swagger about the team. Us lose? Never! I think those days are both behind us and ahead of us: Behind because that was a decade ago now, and we've been through some humbling times since, and ahead of us because we're certainly not invincible.

it was great the way our fans sang the song as we were winding our way down from level 4 of the southern stand! i sang so loudly .... i'm still hoarse!! my cousin had obviously forgotten to breath after each line in the song cos he turned bright red in the face

bumped into AGRO outside gate 6 at the end of the game, i must have sounded like brando's godfather .... never go against the family ... the carlton family!

The crowd last night when the boys came out after 1/2 time was DEAD!!!!

The crowd was easy 70% Carlton but made no sound untill the last qtr, and once Eddie kicked the goal to put us infront i thought they was going to have re-build the whole M.C.G all over again. It was so loud and to watch all the hands claping and hear every1 singing was just, as Andy Mar would say, Unbelievable.

Spoke to a mate of mine at shule this morning who was at the game last night. He is an Essendon* supporter and he reckons that he could feel the Southern stand shaking when we hit the front.
Is there a more pitiful sight than an Essendon* supporter trying to be gracious in defeat.

I have lost my voice from the game last night. Mainly sledging umpires and chanting Eddie Eddie Eddie

The Noise was massive in the last quarter from the Carlton Supporters! I nearly lept off the Ponsford last night when Eddie put us in front!

Something I've noticed about our noise level a few times since last year is that after having been embarrassed and had our noses rubbed in the dirt by everyone, none of us are willing to accept being held down and we are giving everyone a stern reminder of who we are. Like a champion rising off the mat.

I and just about every other Carlton suporter walking down the stairs at the end of the game in the Ponsford, was screaming out the song and I've never heard it belted out with such gusto! I thought we were loud last year when we beat the Pies in round 7 but this blew it away completely! I remember looking at peoples faces who were lined up trying to get onto the stairs and they were amazed (nearly scared) about how loud we were singing! Incredible!

I thought the Round 7 Poowood game last year where we come from a similar margin behind was the best crowd noise I had heard. Last night beat that by a long way

I have just returned to Sydney from attending the game last night-it was awesome to be there, and when we hit the front the place shook. :D
I was really pleased to see so many Blues fans there-I hope this reflects itself in increased membership!

The boo'ing when the umpires raped us with the non-holding the ball and then again at half time was spine tingling. Didn't come across as well on TV but the commentators sure heard it and commented on it.

We need more of that sort of stuff to intimidate the maggots

Yeh the crowd doesn't sound as loud on tele as at the game. in M15 it was louder IMO than the filth game last year in Rd 7.

The crowd noise comes from passion - when some cauliflower (who may have played with Essendon*) who charges $5.10 for a pot penalises out of vengeance and not justice - penalises players, coaches and supporters with no involvement in salary cap breaches but allows the perpetrator with an AFL Life Membership and leaves it to club members to deal out the punishment to the perpetrator.

Every game in 2002 and 2003 burned in the guts - it is unhealthy not to let that emotion out.

The Southern stand was literally shaking as the siren went too.

Everything was loud on Friday night.

Whenever Eddie went near the ball or did something it, everyone in unison would yell.."Eddie"
Was unreal to listen to.

The boos towards the umpires were loud as well.

Everytime we had the ball or we were about to get the ball, I yelled out "Eddie Betts" even if he was up the other end of the ground.
Had the woman behind me in fits of laughter.

This was this lil old lady bout 80,3 rows infront of us and in the last qtr when we started coming back all the young ppl was jumping and i mean jumping out of there seats. She to was jumping out of her seat. The poor lady had some sort of thing under her eye and she started crying after we won and she had to run out cause it was falling off so she missed the song, but got a few hugs from some fans around us.
