I watched the first half and a bit. I thought Edwards was giving the dormat a hard time in the first half. Johnston was fantastic - looked more like a modern day player. Harmes moving out of defence was the turning point to get us back in the game. Klomp did well to bounce back against Kink.

Only watched the first 15 minutes or so so far but Bruce must have had at least 6 possies in that space of time, I though he was doing pretty well.

That Peter Francis goal was a brilliant snap! And according to my oldman he's a great guy just like Sheldon.

And unlike Stan Alves he was friendly when he signed my footy record at the 1993 Grand Final. :-D

I must say that I liked Drew Morphets comment: "and in the long tradition of cheating Collingwood rovers Ray Shaw is doing wonderfully" :-D

Saw a guy I used to work with today who is a Filth supporter and I told him about last night. Also told him the '81 granny is on tonight and that I'd tell him how it turned out tomorrow :-D

How shit was the umpiring? Collingwood had no right to complain.

What was the free kick count?

Bruce Doull is just a God.

A long time since I 've watched that game.
On the money Juzz, Picken and Shaw got a free everytime they went near the ball and fell over (dived). With the charity they got, Harmes could have tapped it back in from punt road and it be called in.

And they still have would have had nothing to piss and moan about.

We all know that Peter Landy said - after Rene Kink gave Alex Jesaulenko a "Collingwood Shower" - said something along the lines of "Rene Kink your gone son".

But what did the ABC commentators say.?? :?

Did Collingwood sides even think they could win against Carlton in a Grand Final?

Their body language said no.

The replays of the 1970 and 1972 Grand Finals will be on ABC2 this week and the 1970 GF is on now.

I just noticed. :(

http://www.abc.net.au/sport/legends/week20.htm#program75

VFL Grand Final 1970

ABC2, Monday April 3 2006, repeat Friday April 7

In football, the Socceroos won away against Iran, Israel and Greece but lost to Mexico. The Wallabies defeated Scotland, and the Kangaroos lost a series to Great Britain before winning the Rugby League World Cup. South Sydney was experiencing a great era winning their third flag in four years.

In the VFL, South Melbourne's Peter Bedford won the Brownlow Medal, and the Grand Final, between Carlton and Collingwood proved to be one of the most exciting of all time.

VFL Grand Final 1971

ABC2, Tuesday April 4 2006, repeat Saturday April 8.

In football, anti-Apartheid riots marked the Springboks rugby tour of Australia and New Zealand. On the field the Wallabies were unable to break down a strong Springbok side.

Arsenal did the double in England and South Sydney won their fourth Rugby League title in five years. In the VFL Hawthorn and St Kilda met in the grand final, each club seeking its second premiership.

VFL Grand Final 1972

ABC2, Wednesday April 5 2006, repeat Sunday April 9

In the VFL, the Grand Final was between two powerhouses - Carlton led by rugged captain-coach John Nicholls and Tommy Hafey's Richmond side. Each had won two premierships within the last five years. Carlton had been the form team all season, but Richmond were entitled to favouritism, having beaten the Blues both times in the regular season, and in the second semi-final replay. With brilliant forwards on each side, Alex Jesaulenko and Robert Walls, Neil Balme and Royce Hart, a high-scoring affair was anticipated.
