Best Positive for this Game is that We play West Coast the following Week, so even if we lose, we will still be in the hunt for the 8th

spot on dodo, as long as we dont shit the bed, i'll be very happy. reckon its gonna be a port / scum grand final - these two are miles in front of the opposition, if we just match them, we could get a lot of confidence. but if we win, blow the lid off

Also Kennedy can take those pack marks forward and back which I don’t think Hewitt can do.

Sorry but there is no way the scum are making the grand final. They may not even make finals

Not sure. We are playing a more mobile backline and it's working. Weitering McGovern Kemp matched up on Jackson Tracey Amiss on the weekend and did well

I can't see any reason why we can't win this game.

They are due a loss.
It is in Melb.
We have some momentum and confidence.

We showed the competition in Rs 1-10 last year we can be a very good team. I think the form we are showing now suggests that was not all a sugar hit last year.

I think at Marvel it will be important to win centre clearances so it would be good if TDK can get up. Obviously Port are a top team so they'll naturally be very organised in the square so we will really need to try and halve that contest. If we lose centre clearances I dare say it will make the challenge a lot tougher.

Interesting they will need to bring their captain Jonas in now.

Was just about to post the same thing, for whatever reason things didn’t work with young, Weitering and McGivern all in the backline, we are much more agile now which is one of the big changes since early in the year.

I don’t think we’ll see Young in the backline unless we need a replacement for Weitering, and even then it’s a tossup between Young and S Durdin. Marchbank is the logical replacement for McGovern if he doesn’t come up, we need someone agile and attacking.

We have stopped relying on the individual to win 1:1 in the backline and are now relying on the team to do team things.

You make a good point about not relying on individuals

So Kennedy out for Hewett, maybe McGovern for ? Marchbank the obvious like for like if he has enough miles in the legs which I am unsure of. If not do we need to look to big Durds? Again lack of miles in the legs. Or if TDK/Pitto comes up do we push Young back as a tall defender? Certainly need the cover in my view given their very tall forward structure.

Who then comes in as the sub? Cowan rested this week might be good for a run but would prefer he had a full game at one or the other level than sub after a week off. But as 2s have the bye a sub rum would be better than nothing. Binns must be close to a game but I think West Coast the following week might suit better.

In terms of dropping anyone it is hard to do so off such a good win but Cincotta has had a couple of quiet weeks - however do we want to mess with the chemistry building down back.

Ideally Cincotta sub and Hewett in 22, Marchbank for McGovern if injured, and TDK or Pitto if fit (one only) for Kennedy - gives us that bit more height for Port's structure. If neither big guy fit then maybe its big Durds time?

I think we're a chance. Port should rightfully be favourites, but we're a real chance.

There will be pandemonium if we win this, though.

I almost don't want us to win, because the expectations will be sky high afterwards.

Almost.

For one thing, the noticeable optimism is a historically powerful reason we could lose!
I do think that the biggest cause of frustration for many of us is that we can see how good we can be but we so often fail to grab our opportunities when they arise.
It is really amazing to see us win 3 games in a row by close enogh to 10 goals each - don't remember the last time that happened, irrespecstive of how bad the opposition. And yet, I still don't trust us.

And just to touch on the opposition, I'm pretty sure GC and Freo were the favourites going in to the games. And going into the Hawks game, many people were tipping Hawthorn and even those who were tipping us, thought it was a big danger game. Yes, they played badly, but GC and the Hawks were in pretty good form before we played them. And Freo in Perth was always going to be a tough assignment.

Hopefully we channel the spirit of our 1991 side, that ended west coast's massive winning run.

Hoping we bring in Dow(if concussion protocol sorted) for Kennedy. Wont happen but think it would be a better move than Hewitt.

Stuffed if I can figure out how to embed the video, but Tarczon’s hit on McKenna is at 3.30ish.

I’ll tell you this much for nothing, if the bump is dead then watching this will make you want to torch the bones & salt the ashes.

100%. I feel this group work well together.
Cincotta is shutting down players. Newman is always helping others.

Dow listed as 1-2 weeks with concussion so may not come up. If in doubt they will probably err on the side of caution.

Pitto injured and TdK being injured and/or out of form, which necessitated Youngs' move to the ruck, has actually made our backline far better. A fortunate accident - no way this coaching panel would have tried this otherwise.
