I'm with Agro in the 'happy to be proven wrong' camp. I don't think he's quite got it but if he gets the gig I hope he proves us all wrong.

Just before you tee-off at Lance again, a couple of questions for you:

a) What is Lance's current weight?
b) What is Lance's ideal playing weight?
c) How have you arrived at your answer to (b)?

I think Waite should be captain because Whitnall may struggle to get a game if Bower,Kennedy,Edwards,Hartlett develop.Where will you play him9Oh there is also Waite Fevola and Fish to contend for spots in the team as well.

Anyone who thinks Stevens should be Captain should have a good look at themselves.Stevens turned up to pre season fat,not captaincy material and he hates being tagged and he goes missing too easily .

I don't think Lance has to worry about getting a game yet and if Stevens is fat then 95% of our population are obese.

I'm not too fussed about the captaincy at this stage, just pleased he's at a good weight, training well & fired up for 06

Go Lance!

Good on him. He knows his faults, and all he has to do is address them. Hopefully this year will see it come together for him.

Go Red!

yeah hopefully.. lets cross our fingers shall we???

Future Carlton football club Captain....

If that happens we have hit rock bottom.....

Good to hear he woke up at 6.30 in the morning one day.... even if it was to see a horse... just checking out its form .... from close up....

Lance is a natural onfield leader.Just watch him marshall the troops and direct traffic.
I think it is natural progression that he takes the baton from Kouta.Lance would be a great Captain of our club.

OK Synbad name the long list of candidates that should be captain before Lance. I think if you watch Lance on the field he actually does display more leadership traits than probably any other player we currently have. I think that Lance could be a good captain for this club.

You're obviously still not over the fact that he is here and not only here, he is here to stay. How about you give him a chance?

You make a kid leader and skip the Lance generation...

He has shown he cant captain a football side with his lack of discipline, professionalism and competiveness.

On the other hand he would be a sensational casting coup as Fred Flintstone if they ever turn that cartoon series onto a movie...

Horses for courses... even Lance knows that...

I thought that guy from "The Full Monty" Mark Addy had Fred down pat in "Flinstones Viva Rock Vegas"

None of our kids are ready to lead the team.

Lance may have struggled with the maturity to be disciplined with his weight and fitness in the past, but this year is a chance for him to change that.

If he achieves that, coupled with his consistent on-field leadership (one of the few who always shows this) I would be very happy to see him get a chance to captain the club next year.

It shows how our standards have slipped.
If Lance played for Collingwood, the minute he walked in fat and unfit, Buckley would grab him by the scruff of the neck and let him know about it.
At Carlton, he's captaincy material. :(

I don't mind that theory, but I still reckon Lance deserves a bit of respect. Not unconditional, but he's here for the year at least, so let's wait until he's played a few games before getting the knife out. He's played almost 200 games for the Carlton Football Club. He's not perfect, but nor are we.

Surely that is more a condemnation of Kouta's style of leadership?

And our standards will have slipped if he is given the captaincy after failing to change his ways this year.

Settle down Camelboy, seeking respect for Lance from some of the more jaded on here is asking way too much

When you are on 400K a year I want near perfect, or as perfect as Tredrae or as perfect as Brown etc.....you take the money then you take the reponsibility and have to wear the comparisons.
I dont expect perfection from Jordan Bannister, Callum Chambers etc and either does the club so they pay them accordingly.
We want a captain along the lines of Riccuito, Buckley....always well prepared and always delivering..thats perfection and thats what I would pay the big bucks for......Lance has had a good summer on the track but needs to deliver on the field and do it again next year and the year after..then he gets the respect ...

Is sarcasm the extent of your offerings?

Enlighten us, why does Lance deserve respect?
