Not sure I'm with you on this. Have you seen the reception he gets at Goodison Park when ManU head there?

Ditto Lampard at West Ham and Sol Campbell at White Hart Lane.

Rio at Leeds. I think the States are on their own as far as accepting player transfers with little fuss.

I think Red Sox fans are still bitter about Babe Ruth.

I reckon The Babe would be filthy on the job John Goodman did in playing him in his life story....(The Babe)

I dont understand that term Deano, can you explain it to me please?

I dont understand it myself because in Gaelic footy, it is very VERY rare that you leave your club, they are the club you join as a kid, it's your parish, your village, it's a very clannish thing, which is special, you are with your mates representing and fighting for each other and you own wee village. In saying that I changed clubs because I moved to Northern Ireland, and occasionally inter county players move because they may be with a very small village with a poor team and of course they want to excel and represent their county so have to move somewhere where they will be playing with and against a better standard of player. Or as is always the case you somethimes move because of personal issues, maybe something like the Wayne Carey issue.

I had a friend move to our locl rivals because his mother had an arguement with someone at our club, he hated it but had to do it for his mum, he never played against us, always got injured coming up to one of the derby games.
He moved back to years ago, couldnt stand being away from his mates and at the other club was alwyas loked at by some as, 'one of them' or an outsider.

But is it not a different motivation when money is involved, did Hamill not move because of money, and at the end of the day, do you not have to put food on the table and a roof overhead?
I am just asking as I dont fully understand?
Ii have a lot of time for Hamill I think he is a good player, St Kilda were the first team I ever saw in a full match, wiz cup 04. I just liked the way he played and took no crap.
Nothing compared to the blues and the likes of Kouta, when Setanta introduced me to him, a great guy, genuine honest and nice.

Beano, we in Victoria who have been following VFL/AFL would claim that it is very rare for players to change clubs, that the we are very tribal etc, this is true of the supporters ie. in the old days you followed the club in the suburb where you lived.

However as I alluded to in my earlier post it is simply untrue to say that players never changed clubs or did so to a lesser degree "in the good old days", they have been changing and in good number from the year 1897 (when the VFL first started) for all sorts of reasons, but number 1 reason would be more often than not money.

That is very true.

It's being going on as long as the VFL has pretty much. I was watching Jesaulenko playing for StKilda on Fox the other day, and he is like one of the all time Carlton legends. He didn't leave for money, but he did ark up when he found out what Fitzpatrick was being paid when he came to Carlton.

Afterall, footballers are merely humans, not Gods, though they are oft worshiped as so.

I fully accept that players are entitled to move for money. Its their profession and we would do the same if another employer offered us well in excess of what we are earning.

What pisses me off about Hamill, is he still won't bloody say that and hides behind the 'skirt' of Allison and the whole John Elliott thing.

Beano....I think you're asking about the "carpark" thing?

It was Draft day last year, and Campo was sweating in the CFC carpark in the hope Carlton would delist him enabling him to be picked up by Essendon*.

We didn't delist him until before the preseason draft when he was taken by Essendon*............and good riddance!
